X6 has more trunk space than X5??
21.9 cu. ft. in the rear for the X5 with a total of 61.8 with the seats down
25.6 cu. ft. in the back of the X6 with a total of 59.7 with seats down. Unless I'm missing something..th X6 has essentially as much cargo hauling capability. Very cool. |

Not sure where you got you numbers but they are wrong.
X5 has the most, followed by X6 and then the X3. Just looking at the vehicles you can tell.

Those are the #s
I didn't make them up... go to any auto buying website and compare dimensions.
You'd think the X5 could haul more stuff, and it can, but only when the seats are down. I had an 04' X5 and I rarely put the seats down. Now that we have a baby, the seats would go down even less. The odd point here is that the X6 has a bigger boot than the X5. If you look at pictures you'll see the X6's space is deeper. The X6 is not as "impractical" as it seems at first glance. DRP |

From Kelly Bluebook
X6 - Total Cargo 59.7 cubic ft. X5 - 61.8 X3 = 71 I don't know about you, but obviously the car sites cannot be treated as gospel . But you can believe them if you wish.

I think the point was that the X3 is supposedly far bigger that both, which is probably unlikely.

Look under the floor?
The X6 has a pretty deep cubby hole under the floor in the trunk that is highly usable. Not sure if the X5 has the same. If not, that could account for the numbers.
