My first and only speeding ticket was issued when I was 18. I had just picked up a friend and was sharing my Vanessa Williams issue of Penthouse and pointing out the good pages. While doing so I was traversing a steep downhill grade and unknowingly climbed to 55 in a 35. A cop was at the bottom and pulled me over. Way back then it was only a $50 fine.
I used this true story as the basis for a speech I did for a public speaking class I took in college. I brought the magazine in for visual reference. I received an A. ![]() I was stopped for "speeding" on Christmas eve a few years ago. The officer claimed I took a 20mph corner at 40mph. Yeah, me and the two cars in front of me who were traveling the same speed. I was no where near 40, but she was looking for drunk drivers and was pulling people and making up reasons. She had just pulled someone over in the opposite direction prior to me. No citation issued. Raises a question in California... Cops can estimate your speed and cite you. How fair is that? A couple years ago I was pulled over at midnight for no front plate. I live in a town with a single stop sign on the main street. The officer did a 360* turn in the intersection and lit me up after I stopped at the stop sign. He said he wanted to be sure I was aware it was missing, which I was because I just had my bumper refinished. I explained that and no citation was issued. He said there was a rash of front plate thefts in the area. Uh, right. Recently I was cited for rolling a stop sign I didn't roll. I have submitted my Trial by Written Declaration and await a decision. I suspect I will prevail, but if I do not, I will exercise my right to a court trial so I can badger the officer on the stand until he admits he didn't see me do what he thought he did. It's been fun learning about the process, but I'd have rather he just admitted his mistake that night rather than waste my time and the court's time. I've lost what little respect I had for traffic cops, aka mobile tax assessors. In my experience, they're out to collect funds for the state and nothing more. If they truly enforced the simple laws that would keep traffic moving and crashes less common, we'd all be better off. Unfortunately, the fines for breaking those laws are too small to make it worth their time.

But lets not confuse speeding with getting ticketed... Maybe I'm just the lucky sort.

Wow this thread is turning out to be quite a confession seminar.
May be I should change the thread to "confession of a bimmer driver".

had my first BMW for five years not a single ticket
got the mini and had three tickets within a two year period which are all off my record now have not gotten a ticket in my current 6 or my denali, though I got pulled over in the 6 for almost running a bike cop over in the rain (the person I bought it from had that god-awful purple tint on it which was peeling and impossible to see out of in the rain) why the cop was riding in the rain is beyond me |

One ticket... two pull overs.
110 in a 65, now I realize I could of evaded. But oh well. I was going 40 in a 35 through a yellow light, but it was my boss' brother who pulled me over, so I got out. Whew. Illegal tint, they havent noticed. haha

I've been pretty lucky irregardless of being in a BMW or not. Cops do like Red unfortunately
![]() 89 Red MR2 NA= 2 tickets, speeding, 2 pull overs with warning on lights, front plates, speeding 89 Gray MR2 SC= 0 tickets 90 White GSX = 2 tickets, speeding 85 Red MR2 SC= 0 tickets, 3 pull overs with warnings on lights and speeding 95 Black GSR= 1 ticket, speeding 04 Silver WRX= 0 tickets, 1 pull over with a warning on speeding 05 SGM ZHP= 0 tickets, 1 pull over with a warning on speeding, no front plates (car came that way) 99 Gray Camry= 0 tickets 02 Biege ES300= 0 tickets It also doesn't hurt being co-operative with the peace officer. If you have your documentation out before they get to the window and are sincere about the reasons why you are speeding they are more than likely to be more forgiving. Plus don't forget to put both your hands on the steering wheel. Learned it from traffic school but it shows that you are not a dangerous assailant. |

Get a used 8500x50 it's something The range is just outstanding. I always get K or Ka band at least .3-.5 miles before I even see the cop. Not a lie either. I have been getting K and Ka band warnings when I was on the other side of the hill and the cop was sittin on the otherside waiting for people cresting over the hill. It's a good investment

In CA, any speeding ticket (<20 mph over) can be taken off your record, by attending traffic school (one time in a few years). My normal top speed is 15 over limit. Unless I can see the full road ahead. Top speed today was 95 (in a 55). No tickets since the 60's. I'm lucky, good eyes, good luck.

So far I have only been pulled over for registration 3 times because I forgot to turn it in. Most of the time it was late at night and they were looking for drunk drivers so it wasn't that big of an issue. The other time though I got pulled over for going about 90 in a 40 and I only got a verbal reprimanding. Probably the dumbest point in my life and I regret it but oh well. I think that taught me a lesson stick within the 10 limit zone. It wasn't my fault though the guy in the 335i twin turbo was leading. Not by a lot though

Just one at the moment.. 65kph in a 50k area.
Requested the photo to be sent to me, and it looks badass up on my wall!! hahaha They havent noticed my car is too low yet tho. unless they have a tape measure on them they wont either, its only just under. not bumpied tho so they should pass it. if they put it up on a jack tho im screwed coz my rear springs are loose when both wheels are in the air http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=342408

My first BMW was a 1998 M3, I bought that car when I was 17 years old. The only ticket I got with that car was expired registration. It was my fault (procrastinated), so it was no big deal. Since that car, I have went through 3 other E36's and now at age 19 I still have not recieved any tickets at all for anything. All my cars have no front plate, tinted windows, lowered, nice wheels, etc. etc. I am pretty mature for my age, and I do speed, but I do it smart. (and yes there is a difference)

I've gotten maybe 20 speeding tickets. 14 of those were during the first year I was driving. Its a $29 flat fine regardless of the speed so I don't really care.
I even got a speeding ticket while I was on my way to pay another speeding ticket. |

since we're all 'fessing... i've been pulled over twice. once for going 50 in a 35mph town speed trap (officer gave me a seat belt warning), and another for 80 in a 55. not only did the guy dock me for the 25 over, he also gave me a second "illegal passing" ticket for passing from the right... 8 points total... thanks buddy. i lawyered up and had it lowered to a no-points "unsafe driving." still kind of sucked, but i guess the tickets did trick, seeing how i've become considerably more careful of speeding since then.
btw if anyone needs a good traffic lawyer in north Jersey let me know.

we're definitely invisible
I should be banned twice over.
Ive been flashed by 3 different cameras and never had any of the tickets. So I reckon we are invisible.

If youre caught speeding you get 3 points. so 4 tickets and a ban, and only 2 in the first year. Not that i should be complaining because Ive gotten away with 12 points
