Train vs. SUV.

Police said it happened just after midnight. The SUV was driving on the tracks (not crossing them). I'd bet alcohol played a factor.

"Hey Johnny" hiccup, "Let's play chicken with the train... I'll bet he turns first..."

The speed limit for trains there was 125mph? Wow. I didn't know Amtrak trains could go that fast.

My brother was friends with one of the guys killed as they grew up playing hockey together. Bet they were out joy riding and the train crept on them. It can be surprising how quietly a barreling train can come up on ya and you barely notice it.

If you're driving on railroad tracks, you'd think of watching out for oncoming trains.

Might sound cold, but they deserve a Darwin Award.

Was it front or rear hit? I wonder if they had a chance to see it. You never know what happened at that moment. Maybe they panicked and didn't know how to react. Best bet probably would have been to open the doors and jump out. Did they have the seatbelt on? That would lock them in in a panic.

You never know what went there in the last few seconds.

Oh, I don't disagree with you on that one, but not everyone is astute as us apparently!
