Exclamation BMW Group Reports January 2009 Sales

Sales of BMW brand vehicles decreased 15.5 percent in January for a total of 12,232 compared to 14,475 reported in the same month a year ago.

Maybe we will get more rebates

Given the current economic condition, a decrease in sales is normal. BMW NA needs to focus more on profitability instead of just "volume".

Pretty strong given the market and especially compared to other auto makers - down roughly 40% - 50% for U.S. makers and roughly 30% for the Asian makers.

They hope the new 7 and the new Z4 will help them. Good luck to them.

In a Reuters/Yahoo article today entitled 'Toyota losses mount', the one 4th qtr bright spot seems to be BMW:

"German's BMW, meanwhile, provided a rare glimmer of hope and its shares rose as it earned a clear profit in 2008 with fourth-quarter sales beating expectations." ....

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090206/bs_nm/us_autos_4

So this would indicate that even though sales may be going down, they are managing to be doing a pretty good job of staying ahead of the curve (or maybe they had more realistic predictions in the first place)
