Are dinan S packages good, they are $2500, the have S2 Dinan Software, Cold air intake Exhaust Strut brace pedals and dinan badge.
Does anyone own one and how are they. What are the Pros and Cons, are they worth the money. In the end you have 206HP and 204 lb/ft torque. And a good suspension system. I have a 1999 E36 328i 4dr sedan. 80,000 miles. |

You could probably save a good 400-600 dollars by not spending it on dinan.

$2500 for 16hp is not a good deal. I also agree that you could save a considerable amount of money by piecing this together yourself with products from different manufacturers.

You aren't going get a whole bunch of power just from one little thing, it would take alot of mod's or a supercharger for your car to get a significant boost of hp.

The only reason to pay for Dinan is because they don't void the factory warranty and because you want the Dinan badge. That's it. They make good products, but they charge insane prices because of the warranty deal.
You can get products that perform the same (sometimes even better) and are built at least as well for MUCH better prices, and then spend the remaining amount on more mods that improve performance further. IE, adding cams, diff, etc as was mentioned above. Of course, unless your car has been restored to factory condition, don't forget to do maintenance first.

^Exactly. Which was the implicit point I was making - they're not under warranty, only reason to buy Dinan is for the badge. (For the record, despite the complete illogicality of it....(whoa, illogicality is a word? I was expecting spell check to bitch about it....cool)....anyway, I'd totally love an E39 540i/6 Dinan 5 since it's the car I've dreamed of since I was a kid).
I don't at all think Steve is a bad guy. I know Dinan products are good, and I know Dinan in Mountain View (close to me in the Bay) does good work. I think that the prices are to recoup the extensive R&D and the process of convincing BMW to let them not void the warranty. Dinan has it's place, no doubt. But there's no point in dropping bank on Dinan for an E36.

Around 20 hp give or take a bit. But this is at the rear wheels There is no big power to be had with just one bolt on, unless you call a supercharger a bolt on. They are for all technical points. Don't even have to open up the valve cover to put one on but big $$$$ to set up or buy a good kit
