Introducing Myself
I've been cruising the forum for a couple of years now and decided I really should register. Its been an invaluable resource and makes owning an out-of-warranty BMW an affordable proposition.
I bought a 2002 BMW 530ia new and have been very pleased with it, so pleased that I'd rather do some restoration than replace it (I don't like the new 5 series body style, so I'd like to drive this until the next redesign to see what BMW comes up with...). I've been pleasantly surprised at how reasonable parts are, and aghast at how much the stealer charges to install them, so having a full set of automotive tools from rebuilding my 1998 Jeep Cherokee, I decided I have at the Bimmer. Everything is complete stock at the moment, but after I get through the engine and suspension rebuilds, I may start considering some upgrades. I'm having a bit of a challenge right now removing the intake manifold, so perhaps that will be my second post. |

Hello everyone.
My first BMW is on its way over from Bremerhaven on the car carrier "Hestai leader". Should arrive in Washington state in mid july. The anticipation is killing me. I've owned mostly Toyotas. Great, reliable cars but not the most fun. A bit of experience with German autos. My wife drives an 07 GTI mk V which is pretty fun, and I had an old 69 bug about 10 years ago. Currently drive a 2000 4runner...great truck. Now i'm adding an 09 335i coupe to the stable. 36 y.o. Live in Olympia, Washington. Married with 1kid in the house and another that lives in california with a crazy mother. Mental black lab and siamese cat. Graduate of Wazzu, currently a Captain in the Air Force. Thats aboot it. |

Got Tired of being outrun...
Had a 5 series Sedan while I lived in Kaiserslautern, Germany and got run over on the bahn by a damn Volvo so I traded it in on a '97 Camaro Z28 SS Anniversary Edition. Yes the BMW was German Spec. The Camaro made that BMW seem like a Ford Escort.... Not sure why anyone cares if a car can go zero to 60 in mach 2, give me 6 laps on a track and I'll tear you up. Oh that's right, the Government wants moronic revenue generating speed limits so you have to stop accelerating at 60.... The guys at Opel / Jenal, Homburg (Serge to be exact) from the racing team did a sweet number on my Chevy. Considering it was built in Canada by GM it's a pretty good ride. I did just pick up a used 3 series for my mom, she likes it cause it's a nice little old ladys car, not a Merc mind you, but still for 500 bucks it's a nice easy lawnmower engine to work on.

Hello Everyone!!!
I am new to this site, but I think I'm going to love it!!
Anyway, I just acquired a drop dead gorgeous black/black 1999 750il in spectacular condition!! It has every bell and whistle; bullet proof windows, DVD, TV, GPS, 6/cd player, 12 speakers, (most unbelievable sound system I've ever had), interior is mint, like brand new, garaged, no rust, no dents, no cosmetic damage and was maintained by a man who loved this car more than anyone or anything. A perfectionist who didn't trust anyone else to work on it. In other words. . .JACKPOT!! I now own the car of my dreams!! I'm thrilled to be able to communicate, about BMW's, with other people who love and know about them. Last edited by acn122; 06-21-2009 at 08:59 PM. Reason: add photo |

Hey y'all, I just bought a 2003 325xi, which is my first bimmer as an owner, and will pick it up in a couple days. I grew up driving my Dad's Bimmers, which were 5- and 7- series from the '80's. Still, I kind of surprised myself because I was looking for another Infiniti G35 but they don't seem to sell them here in Western Michigan and I stumbled across this silver beauty. I won't mod it much, but I need to figure out the best way to carry mountain bikes on it and how to wire my ipod into it.

Well, my name is Larry, I just purchased my first Bimmer a couple of months ago, well bought it for my teenaged son, a 94 325i convertible Boston green tan interior with a black top. I have a few questions that i'll put in the appropriate fields and hope you can all help me out. Bought the car for 900 dollars with a few problems. Thanks Larry

Hello All!
Hello folks, Chris Kay here. Long time BMW family (used of course, not much dough these days). My 1995 525i still drives like a champ (many rebuilt areas-front and rear end, steering box, etc.) I am brand new to the forum today. I am not familiar yet with the site, so bear with me. I am sure this has been answered somewhere, but can one of you steer me to DIY recharging of the air conditioning in a 1995 525i.
Thanks much in advance! Chris Kay |

Good day all.
Just bought a 94 325i with 135k on the clock. It is a basically rust free car (you care about that in northeast Ohio) since the car spent most of its life in CA and TN. It runs good but needs some TLC. This is my first non-GM car. I am going to make it presentable and find it a good home. In the meantime I'll probably have a few questions. I've been on many different forums - for Vettes, John Deere tractors, and the Civilization game to name a few. I'll try to share what I learn during my time with this BMW. Maybe it'll convince me to buy a newer nicer on for the next car. We'll see. There should be a couple pics attached. I want to go on record saying I did not put those mats in the car. Not sure what the prior owner was thinking on that one. I'll be floor mat free until I can find something appropriate for the car. |

Should have done this a few weeks back but I've been busy finding every winding road in Western Washington and reading the manuals...
I'm Renee. My new 328i convertible is my first BMW and now I'm kicking myself for not getting one sooner. Got everything I wanted, including a great deal. I've never been a "car" person and the learning curve is tremendous. But it's been absolutely worth it. I keep the manual with me at all times and read it whenever I get the chance. Be sure to honk if you are anywhere near Western WA! I'll be the 36 year old with the top down, and my 11 son in the back (probably blasting his favorite band - Green Day - through the L7!).

Hello fellow Bimmer lovers......
Just got my first Bimmer! Wish I could have afforded one sooner, I will never be going back. It is a 2002 540i Sport in charcoal gray. If I did it right there should be a picture of it in my signature. Had to go for the V8 and I absolutely love it. I am also very excited to start learning all the info I can from this great resource of a web community. So Hello Bimmerfest!

Newbie from the Netherlands
Hi Guys,
Just want to say hi to everone and introduce myself somewhat. I am from the Netherlands and i just got myself a 02 745i executive. I will be delivered to me next week. Still, the wait is killing me haha... I currently drive a MB CLK 240 and have driven a couple of beemers before (04 523 exe and others). And altough I really enjoyed the MB, I absolutly love beamers. In the Netherlands, because of our taxe system, the model E65 is very expensive to run (we have the highest gass price in europe, about eur 1, 45 per 1 liter!) and the roadtax kills as well, about eur 400 every three months...) But..i finally got one! Will post some pics next week, to see how you guys like it... For know I will be browsing your comments and looking a your rides! Greetzz P. |

What up dudes! I just bought my first beemer about two months ago, a very nice 97 528i here in the land of the rising sun, it has a few electrical gremlims from the old owner installing way too many lcd screens inside, other than that it is quite awesome. I'll get around to posting pictures and maybe you can help me identify the mods that were done to this baby. As far as I can tell: angel eyes, HID lights and japanese seats. I have no clue what the "japanese spec" seats means I could use some guidance, for now though I'll go back to lurking.
