2009 x5d or 2010 x5d?
Hi all,
I just found out my dealer still have 09 x5d, one is demo with all bells and whistles another one is brand new with similar options as I ordered. Both of them can lower my ordered x5d payment around $100ish. Do I worth to take the 2009 x5d or stick with my ordered 2010 x5d? What do you guys think? |

Is the new iDrive worth it to you? Other than that you lose noting buy getting the 09'.

If they both have the tech package I would tell you, that the 2010 is worth the additional cost. We recently traded a 2008 X5 3.0 on a 2010 X5D and the new technology package has a HD based nav., three camera for rear and side view, and the ability to send messages from google maps directly to the car. One other benefit is while waiting for your kids to finish a practice you can watch a DVD on the front screen. DVD will not display while driving. I have been happier with the new changes in the 2010 tech package.

In terms of purchase price, how much would you save by buying the 2009? Don't look in term of monthly payments. We're already entering 2010. So, if you buy the 2009, you're going to immediately take a hit on depreciation. When you decide to sell the car, you'll lose more in depreciation.

I will lease either 2009 and 2010. Both have technology package, so I only consider drive off and monthly payment. Since 2009 and 2010 are the same on body type from exterior so it won't tell the different. Debating now

Oh, if you're leasing, then monthly payment matter. As someone else mentioned, it comes down to whether you want the new iDrive and top view.

So 09 doesn't have the top view camera and what is difference between both? Does it worth?

The MY2009 has the just a rearview camera, however, as of now if your order a MY2010 you will get no cameras. Of the dealer stock and orders that are already in transport have 3 cameras; a rear view, and two side view cameras. All orders that have not been produced yet get only PDC due to a supply chain issue. Also the top view IMO is not worth it, but the new iDrive is.

The new iDrive is such a significant step up from the old system. We wouldn't be interested in anything without the new one.

I would wait as I personally find the new idrive a vast improvement over the old version. If he has any 2010 X5's, even non-diesel, you could compare the old and new idrive. If he has no 2010 X5's, you could also see the new idrive on other models.

I happen to like the top view. It helps when parking between lines. I can look and see if I'm spaced okay between the lines. I've heard the backup camera is a lot quicker than the last one, also. I had the old iDrive, and I do like the new format. Don't know if that's enough to make it worth your while, tho.

How about the sport package? Does it have any difference about 2009 and 2010 for adaptive drive?

Top view is pretty cool and helps in parking in tight spaces. If you don't do that much you won't miss it. the new idrive is a huge improvement. i liked the old idrive (it is on my 5er) and think it is easy to use once you learn how to use it. That said, the new idrive is fast, the nav is hard drive based (if you get it) and the screen is a little better. Plus, the buttons allow for easy selection of things like nav, phone, radio, etc. |

If you are renting, er, leasing, this might be OK. You should pay $5000 less for a year older car, IMHO A |
