2001 BMW 525I (e39)
Turning on heater I do not feel the heat blowing. Driving at around 40-60mph I can feel heat coming out of the vents. Does this mean the blower is busted? I had imagine the dash showing weird warning lights if things fail in bmw....won't it?

99% sure you blower motor resistor has failed. Very common failure on the E39. Do a quick search for FSU or FSR in the DIY section....15 minute repair will cost you around 75$.

that is what i would like to put my bet on...that FSU or FSR is busted. I had assume that the blower motor doesn't go kaput so soon. any recommendation on where I can buy them?

Dealer has them for $90+, Available online for around $70. Do a search at the usual vendors. You may want to do this sooner rather than later as FSR failures could lead to battery drain and a dead car.
