headlight lens

Hey Guys,
I have a 1999 528iT on which the headlight lenses have become "foggy" with dirt and mold. Can they be disassembled for cleaning?
How?
Thanks,
Paint

You should use the "SEARCH" function before posting questions, or else other people will jump on you like hobos on a medium rare steak...
But yes, they can be taken apart, I've never done it so I can't really help you....

Thank you ,Ryans E39. The search was not able to answer my questions and neither were you.It must be a long winter in Badger Country.
I hope others on this forum are nicer and more helpful.

Soap and water will not help you my friend. Here's a link to a DIY lens restoration.

Go to eBay motors and search for seller redcometm3 . He has them as new replacements with clear or smoke turn signals.

I had the same headlight dirt issue, so I used it as an excuse to get Hella Xenons instead. I found a used clean set that belonged to a salvaged e39 5 series (not the M5 ones though) and they work great. I just have to get better bulbs, the guy threw in a set of D2S bulbs for me but it looks like one is a bit whiter than the other.....Back to eBay for a set of 8000k D2S bulbs lol

Are you sure it's on the inside? Have the headlamps ever been opened to replace the adjuster?

(4) 9mm screws to remove the lights -> unclip the 3 wire harnesses -> pull the headlights
-> 4 side clips to pull -> use the $14 plastic headlight polish purchased from Home Depot
-> use sponge in SIDE -TO - SIDE motion with stage 1 solution followed by stage 2 -> repeat for 2nd headlight -> reinstall lights & reconnect all wires -> bathe entire car -> post pics here when done
