Mein Auto: BMW 550i X-Drive M-Sport
Question What did you drive before the X6? Why did you choose it? Any Regrets?

Looking to lease a 2010 550i Sport but saw a white/beige X6 with Sport Pkg in the BMW showroom and a Black/Black in the lot. It is a great looking SAV! I know they are 2 different types of vehicle but has anyone here owned or driven both to make any valid comparisons/observations? I thought the interior of the X6 was especially well done. I am 6'2" and could sit in the back seats without difficulty.

I replaced my 330i with the X6.
Was initially going to replace it with a 550i, then the M3 but the X6 essentially met my requirements.
The boot space is ample, the cup holders are nice, the interior space is roomy.
Not one regret yet.

We just picked up our new x6 and we have a 528i 2008 model also. I know the engine is totally different in the 528 vs a 550 but as far as the ride and features go...the x6 is much better in my opinion. So smooth and roomy and totally sexy to look at. Go for the X6!!!

Exclamation

I had the RS4 B7, followed by M6, then 635D Sport, and now X6, now with this climate I wish I had saved my money and bought a main stream car.
However in a couple of years time I should get a reasonable price and then buy a main stream car, WHY you say, "because I have wasted sooo much money on high end cars" and you just can't use them antmore without one eye in eachs direction.

Have a 550i sport and would get the X6 5.0

I love my 550i sport, and although the X6 is a heavier vehicle, its more unique, sounds better and is the first SUV I've ever driven (Cayennes, X5s included) that you can essentially drive the same way as a 550i - fast all over. The handling and torque are amazing.

The 550 stinks in the snow (I use snows with sand in the trunk). Once underway its fine, but getting going is not so easy in the snow with the 550.

The 550 now has the new idrive which the X6 won't get until October I believe.

X6 is newer design and more unique. Acura is copying it now (the sincerest form of flattery)

good luck,
DRP

I think the X6 put a damper on the M3 and 7 series launch.

No one is talking about a 7 series, much less an M3.

Over the past few years, only a few new models from BMW caused a stir.

The 335 coupe/sedan, 535, and the X6.

I think the current M3 is the most powerful well designed M yet. However, it was only in the spotlight for what seem to be a few minutes.

The x6 replaced an audi a5 3.0tdi for me. I liked the car, but the lack of ground clearance and difficulty getting elderly relatives in the back worked against it.

I just test drove the V8 tt and loved it...What a beast..

Handling was excellent for such a large vehicle...

I currently have a 550i Sport which I adore. But living up here in the midwest, I could easily see driving the ttv8 X6 as an everyday driver.

It's definitely on my consideration list in 24 mos.

Mein Auto: X6 50 Black on black
Previously owned a King Ranch F150 and a MB E55. My X6 50 gives me the things I really like about both those vehicles: all wheel drive, good ground clearance, luxurious interior, powerful engine and an overall fun driving experience.
I've been very pleased with the vehicle so far. Only problem is my wife has been coveting it, so not sure how much longer I'll actually be driving it.

I got rid of 06 Range Rover Sport as soon as I purchased 09 X6 50i about a month ago. My decision only took one test drive at the dealership. Zero regrets!

I got rid of a 5 and 6 series and consolidated down to one vehicle.
