Smile Jack Pads? Pillar A? Wind Noise

Hi, I have a 2002 525d with 180.000 Km. Lately I'm hearing a low rummbling noise. I posted several threads before in order to find out the problem. It is not the bearings since I changed them and some people told me it was the Jack Pads and the air it was going thorugh Pillar A. The problem is that I'm new on this and English is not my native language and I do not know some technical language. Where are the Jack Pads? What is Pillar A? Can anyone send pictures to show me? Many thanks.

pillar A is front pillar/column/trim that is between Front door and windshield on the inside of the car...

Jackpads are rubber/plastic pads under the car to safely jack up/lift up/hoist up car for working on the car from underneath

never heard of that problem as my jack pads are missing and i have no windnoise except from sunroof

Missing jack pads & wind noise have been such a common problem (across several BMW models)...so much so that there is a BMW TIS document about it.

As Cereall already explained the locatioin of the "A" pillar (the part of the car that supports the roof that's between the windshield & front door)...the successive B, C, D pillars are aptly named as you move toward the rear of the car. The "B" pillar is the roof support between the front & rear doors, the "C" pillar is the support between the rear door & rear windshield, and the "D" pillar would be the support between the rear cargo window & tail gate on the Touring. This nomenclature continues on in larger vehicles (like a extended limo, van, or bus etc).

BTW...jack pads, what they look like, and their location has been oft discussed and info is easy to find by typing "jack pads" in the search link. Our forum member (Bluebee) has posted great pics of them and their location (along with others)...but Bluebee's are some of my favorite pics...see some of them below and click this link for her write up w/pics on how to install them: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...2&postcount=31

You do not mention the speed. I had a much investigated rumbling sound at less than 50 km per hour, which finally disappeared when I replaced my Michelin tyres with Contis. Try under and over inflating the tyes for a test if this makes sense.
