Oil change reset? Red car symbol?

Hi I got an oil change and the guys did not know how to reset the computer so it keeps sayin -1000 miles for an oil change when I just got one. I looked at the DIY reset thread but got confused on what to do to reset the oil change to make it so that the red car symbol disapears. Let me know, Thanks

Put your Key in the ignition with your foot on the brake and hit your start button put don't start the car. Press and hold the tripometer button on your dash. A lil menu will show in your speedometer. Turn the knob until you get to oil rest press the knob and reset your oil. The red warnig light will go out.

I think KEV41009 is wrong - you don't put your foot on the brake! That will start the car when you push the button. You need to: insert key fob, press start button, press tripometer until a list shows up, press until you get to oil, hold until you see reset on the other side (rpm gauge), presss to reset, you're done. If any questions, go to DIY section of this forum. Again, keep your foot off the brake!!!

Your Right my bad. Take your foot off the brake. And it will work.

Same problem. Service oil indicator light is appearing after changing new oil BMW X3

Hey guys, I've got the same problem AKSuited but I have the X3 2005 model. There's no "start" button or the knob. It's the traditional key in the ignition and there are two buttons just under the electronic display where the speedometer is.

How do I reset the computer so it doesn't show the service oil display?

Just search on the X3 forum for "service reset" or "service light reset." You will want to ask X3 questions on the X3 board, as these models are very different.

Or this one:
Service light reset.

after I started the car the brake sybol is now on my cluster &
on the screen it say's replace front & back brakE lining . Just
to let every 1 know the only thing on before this was the oil
service light . The car has not been moved since I reset the
oil light . I tried to reset it , but the brake light then came up on the
screen & that's when it appeared on the cluster . Any 1 have
