BMW of North America announced the names of its top performing dealerships in the US. The 31 BMW dealers out of 338 nationwide awarded the "2009 Center of Excellence Award" were selected based on the criteria of customer satisfaction, brand representation, and operational excellence.
Over the last 10 years, the BMW dealer network has invested over $2.1 billion dollars improving its sales facilities and repair workshops, refining processes and focusing on top-tier customer service, making it one of the most successful franchises in the US.

"While all BMW dealerships offer a premium experience to our customers, the 31 Centers that have won this year's award excelled in the way they take care of their customers and represent the BMW brand," said Peter Miles, Executive Vice President Operations, BMW of North America.

Recent independent studies confirm BMW's superior customer service performance. J.D. Power and Associates' Customer Service Index (CSI) Study ranked the BMW dealer network among the top three automotive brand franchises in the US for its superior customer satisfaction and dealer service. And BusinessWeek identified BMW as one of the top 25 "Customer Service Champs" among all companies in the US.

"Anyone who is in the market with money to spend should expect to receive an exceptional customer experience," said Alan Harris, Vice President Aftersales, BMW of North America. "BMW's efforts to provide exceptional customer service have become a crucial part of our continued success even in today's challenging economic climate."

Is this the best, or the ones that threaten you the most if you don't give all 5's on the survey?

List is alphabetical by location.

We just picked our second BMW from BMW of San Diego. They have been great to work with. 2006 and 2009. We used the Internet Dept for Lease both times, Pat Springer in 06 and Ed Belenky in 09. Both were super to work with along with Efe in 2009. So much easier to go the Internet way. Eliminates much of the hassle, they know you are a serious buyer/leaser and they are ready to do a deal. Their SA Charles Davis has taken super care of us anytime we had work done on our 2006 330i. We can see why they are part of the Center of Excellence. Great prices and great service By the way, they are owned by Roger Penske. this dealership is clean as a whistle !. It is a pleasure to stop in. We are looking forward to many fun miles in our new 2009 335i.

Yeah. GOOD. STAY AWAY FROM BOB SMITH BMW. My personal experience is that they are Total liars, ripoffs. My friend has praised SouthBay... and not surprisingly, they're on this list!

This is by far the WORST BMW dealer in the United States. VOB BMW in Rockville, MD. Do not go there unless you want to get lied to and ripped off like I did:

Sales - said CPO car was accident free. Turns out it was in a BMW body shop for body repairs, in an accident, and the entire front of car was re-painted. Never disclosed and not on CPO certification under body repair history. This is how they operate, they buy cars at auction out of state and then sell to unsuspecting customers as CPO. This link says it all:

I purchased my 535XI at Classic BMW Willoughby Hills OH and it definitely deserves to be on the list. They were upfront during the purchase and their service is great. If your in Ohio and looking for a BMW, thats where to go.

What I've never understood about these surveys is what happens if the sales service is so bad that you never buy a car (and therefore don't receive a survey), or the service dept service is so bad that you only take it there once (and only give one bad survey, which is outweighed by many mediocre ones)??

It just seems like the system is designed to give itself high scores.

CREVIER BMW??? OMG no way!!! they are like the most rip off stealership in the freakin' world!!!! just becuase they serve up some nice free coffee and give you a nice loaner (all BMWs) everytime when you go in dun mean they are good.....think about it...the cost of those nice new 3s and 5s bimmer gotta come somewhere.....and guess where lolssss you repair bill obviously!!!!!

the first thing they tell you when you bring in a car that's outta warranty (of in my case only have CPO) is that they'll charge you $160+ just to 'look' (or diagnois as they say) if is not covered under CPO.......and that could be something that's for sure covered under CPO (ie SES light)...yes i understand they aint gonna charge me anything if it is covered under CPO and also is the purpose to full disclosure (and i understand the fact that they do have to pay tech to 'check it out' etc etc.) but just to have a SA comes up and tell you they MIGHT charge you $160+ without actually doing anything just yet is kindda hard to take (and not that easy to take) ...i dunno maybe i am just a cheap ass.......

and also the second thing is that last time when i brought in my X3 to have a water leak repaired (under warranty) first of all they told me that the car was 800miles out of warranty....which i was on my way driving back on a road trip from Canada (i am what....am i suppose to STOP and not drive home because my warranty is running out??) so they were trying to weaseal out of it....WTF....so i got in touch with BMWNA which got them to do a 'good faith; thing etc etc BS....fine......then 12 months later i have the SAME LEAK!!!! this time i brought the car in a diff dealership (Savage BMW in Ontario) which i know the SA for years (before when he worked in BMW SLO) anyhow he told me that whoever previously 'fix' the leak did a half ass job.....#1 themositure barrier is broken, #2 the drain tub, and door seal connector are 'glued' back together when they are in fact broken. so instead of replacing broken parts....they GLUED them back together... WTF!!!!!

so i had to take the car back to CREVIER BMW....talked to the service manager....so they fixed it again.....everything was all fine and good ( i didnt go back and see if they actually REPLACED it or just once again glued it back together) BUT the other day, i took the car to the carwash and AGAIN...there is a leak at the same damn place....not as bad,......but a little moist......so i've basically given up on them.....i mean i can go back again and scream and bitch and yell again to get it fixed.....but i dunno.....

anyhow so IMHO i dont think CREVIER deserve anything kind of 'top performer' rating....i dunno whatz up with the rich people up in OC.....

Looks like they are alpha ordered by state, then city. I can vouch for East Bay BMW - great service dept, though (like most) they will try to squeeze you for full price on warranty extensions and that crap.

As for other bay area dealers Sonnen Marin was great for handling my ED but appeared to care less about my business - no thank you from the sales manager, no follow up after delivery, no service specials in the mail, nada. Pretty dumb. SF BMW has good service dept. but vehicle prices are usually absurd.

I strongly disagree with the VOB comments - had nothing but good experience with both sales and service depts. YMMV.
