Rear seat bottom removal

Our new-to-us 328xi came with the cold weather package (split folding rear seats) and all of our prior BMW's (2 E60's, E39's, X3's, X5's, etc....) allowed you to simply lift up and remove the rear seat bottom. Doing so allows you to easily clean down in there (if you have kids that eat in the car you'll want to be able to vacuum all the stuff out before it smells).

It doesn't look like the e90 allows you to lift out the rear seat bottom. Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks in advance.

The rear seat bottom is easy to get out. I just removed mine last weekend to clean out some glass. There is 2 tabs that hold it down in the front. Just grab the front corners and pull straight up, then it should pop out.

I don't know the specifics, but my car was just in the shop and they also said that the back seat bottoms just pop out...

Can someone confirm this? That is just pops out? I have an LCI E90, and I just watched two Yogos disappear into the hole for the seatbelt, never to return. I need to get them outta there before it gets warm and they melt - but I can't get the seat off. I feel like I'll break it if I pull much harder from a corner, as the seat bottom bends easily.

Help please!

There's basically a large tab on the rear seat base in the center front of each of the rear seats (driver and passenger). The seat bottom has slots that pop down over these tabs on each side. If you grab the seat in front underneath and just give it a firm pull up it should pop right off. I'd be surprised if they've changed this for the 2009 LCI.

I can confirm this as I did this over the weekend, and I just did it again 5 minutes ago to take some pictures for you.

Grab the seat here

Pull up with some force and you will unlatch the side like this, you have to do this to each side

These are the 2 tabs that hold the seat down

I hope that helps, this was all done on a E90 LCI with folding rear seat. Then to reinstall, just get it all in place, and just push down the front till you feel it click in

I have an 06 330i sedan and I just tried to do this and I don't think it worked... I heard a crack when I pulled up, I hope to god I didn't break anything because when I pushed back down I didn't hear a click or feel it go back into a tab. Is there something I'm supposed to do before pulling on the bottom of the seat?

I assume coupe is different, you cannot lift the bottom part of the rear seats, correct?

I am interested in the Convertible as well. I dropped a small screwdriver behind the seat installing the SmartTop. It is not rattling around - yet - but I would like to get it out if possible ....

Oh no! Nobody answer this, please. BF already took the trunk all apart and dropped fasteners under the battery, requiring major ingenuity to retrieve. If he finds out he can take apart the back seat I'm sunk!

Yes, you can, but it has two separate pieces. Still the same principle - pull them up at the front.

Can anyone confirm this is possible with the 2009 LCI Vert ? I do not want to break anything and they do not seem to pull up very easily. Perhaps I am overly cautious with a new car

the 2009 vert wasn't facelifted, so i believe it should be the same as the rest of the coupes and verts...
