Which brand/viscosity of oil for your 540i?

I live in Dallas and was thinking about how stinking hot it is here today. 100+F

Now that the summer heat is here I am wondering how well the 5w30 is protecting the V8 in the 540i. Is a higher viscosity needed in hot climates? I am thinking about a 10W40 weight changeover.

What are your preferences on oil brand/viscosity?

5w30 Mobile 1 used all-year in CA. I think I'll switch to BMW OEM synthetic next.

Try Mobil1 0W-40, newest offering in US with ACEA A3/B3 and BMW LL 01 specs. BMW branded 5W-30 is also on a thicker side and should work nice.

Smile I just switched to RedLine 5W/40 in Houston

Engine seems to be running smoother...faster maybe...just feels right.
