Here is the Faults.

"Service engine soon!"
Emissions-related fault.
Please contact your BMW center as soon as possible.

I have attached a picture.

Has anyone experience this fault. Any Ideas? I'm thinking possibly the O2 sensor maybe??

Could be one of several things and as simple as a a bad gas cap. Did you get the fault right after you started it up?

quick update:

checked the gas cap. It seems good.(Didnt do a machine pressure test on it tho) The fault occur after a cold start. Now that I think about it, it even occured when the vehicle was already operating for awhile after a re-start.

The good thing that I'm happy to report is the Fault has gone away. Its has been several days now. I'm crossing my finger.

It could of been that a hose contracted and caused a small leak of air or vacum causing it to throw you a chek light but if it went away it will come back to hount you..muuuuhaaahhaaaaa

Well my 760 had the same warning last week - took it in to the dealer and sure enough - vacuum leak of some kind. So they want it back on Tuesday - hopefully they will have it for less than a month like they did last year when they claimed I had valve deposits.

This happen on my z4 yesterday, I was scheduled for an oil change today, so I mentioned it to the dealership and they reset it for me for free. They said it was an air leak after the intake sensor, so most likely a crack in the intake lower boot. (I believe this is why I have been hearing a whistle noise coming from the intake while driving in low revs.

The part should be less than $50 but add on labor and est. cost is probably $120 to $150. If you change it yourself I guess just the price of the part.

i don't know why you boys just don't take an hour or so to inspect the breather pipes etc for condition ! ? i'll bet if the car runs fine that its nothing to worry about and will be a simple fix ! better this way than some dollar hungry dealer taking your hard earned !

would you care to share how I can check them .
My car is running fine & normal as it alway's has ,
but this light just came on about a week ago &
has not turned off . If you can tell me how or post
a diagram I can check it myself instead of taking
it into the dealer .

THANK YOU in advance .

My car has that same error. Dealer says my Catalytic converter is bad and its $3000 to fix. i had reset the light a couple of time and keeps coming back. The car drives good though.
