I had this same problem I got a ticket in Chicago because my car didn't come with the front licence plate bracket which is required in Illinois,
and one of the Bimmer forums recommended a bracket mount from AutoZone which turned out to be just as he stated and you wouldn't guess how much... Only $7.99 ![]() Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using Bimmer App |

I just bit the bullet and installed my BMW front license plate bracket. Felt horrible to drill into the bumper but in my state I need the front plate and figure I won't ever take it off. Oh well, it is still just as fast!

Mount front plates without drilling holes
I just installed the front number plates without drilling holes. I used the original mount that came with my BMW. I used a couple of 24" long cable ties (1/8 " wide), looped them through the bottom holes (not the holes for the screws), and tied them to the back grill. The mount is held in place by 2 hooks at the top. Then I screwed the plates on to the mount by 4 screws.
Job done in 10 minutes. |

I recently bought a E91 wagon. It has two hold on the front bumper that are 12.8 inches (28.5 cm) away. I hate to make more hold on to the bumper. Is there such a license plate bracket with its mounting holes that far apart?
