I hit curb and a wrench icon shows up on navigation

Okay, I know, rookie move, but I was pulling out a parking slot with concrete risers on the right side. I hit the concrete with my front passenger tire and rim. no damage (Thankfully !). However, I noticed that immediately thereafter, an Icon of a Wrench showed up on my navigation.

Anybody know what this is? I can only guess that the system detected some kind of minor collision and marked it on the map?? but I didn't get any warning messages.. any thoughts anyone? Thanks

Check you Car Data on Idrive and see what it says. No?

And do you have car icon on the right top side of Nav Screen? What color is it?

the automatic wrench pulley module under the car probably fell out from the force of the impact... bmw has made this car very hard to work on, so hard that they invented a special wrench just to open up various components on the engine etc etc... what's even sadder is that the wrench is unique to each vehicle, similar to wheel locks... the wrench icon shows up in the display to remind the technician that he forgot to put it back... this is very bad news, i suggest you go back to the impact site right away and look for a silverish thing on the ground as this will NOT be cheap to replace...

Uh-oh, go easy on him, H! Poor guy is probably crawling around that parking lot on all fours right now !

OP, have you tried "Navigation-->Information-->Hide Map Icons?

it's all in fun! but i agree, it is the map icons... since it's a wrench i'd assume its a service shop etc etc... i never really liked how the points of interest feature worked in the 7 anyways, i found myself using the iphone's gps for that as opposed to the bimmer...

I am not happy with that functionality either, and I tend to use Google Maps on my Blackberry Storm for that as well. Wonder if BMW will ever get the hint?

from what i hear, though the newer versions of the nav in their cars are a step up, it still falls short in comparison to aftermarket products... i purchased an eclipse avn2454 many years back, it was the first nav system i ever bought... the functionality was just unreal, and when i purchased the 7 i was very dissapointed with the nav system entirely... to me, it's only purpose was to look cool....
