Car wont sleep

Went out today and battery was dead so we jumped it came back out later and it was dead again. I have checked the shifter light many hours after closing the vehicle tight and the shifter light remains on. What do I do?

How old is the battery ? Anything beyond 4 years is questionable....if in doubt, replace it. Autozone or Walmart have suitable replacements for 1/3 the cost of what a dealer will charge you.

I got it when i returned from iraq and that was 3 years ago so I have no idea when the battery was last replaced I plan on having it checked tommorow at autozone. Still worried about the car not going into sleep mode properly?? I know better than buy from the dealer all the work done since I bought the car has been done by me also the last 50.000 miles was all me she has seen alot of the US I want her to see more!

I read the referenced thread, and 'still' couldn't tell what it is that causes the general module to 'not' kiss the kiddies good night.

With nothing else to go by, I'd suspect the battery voltage, which we know wreaks havoc with the E39 electronics (ask me how I know) ... or the FSU.

If it's the FSU, you'll find all you need in the VERY best of E39 Links when you do a thread search for FSU ...
