Can I give my old car a new face?

Will an OEM facelift (01-03) bumper cover mount to a non facelift (97-00) car? Simple question that google can't seem to answer for me.. I've looked at the face lifted models online and it seems the front fender is different to accomendate a different headlight shape. But the bumper covers seem comperable. Do they mount up in the same locations? I know the fogs are smaller and round. What I really want out of this is a better looking chin. With out going with the much over played M5 rep bumpers.

Hello

Yes, you can replace your pre-facelift bumber with the faceliftet one

And as you mentioned, the foglights are different - and so are the connectors (get a couple of "new"-ones at the savage yard - or whatever you call that place with the damaged cars in english :-) )

Otherwise, it's just plug and play

A shame that we are so far apart - I have a spare facelift frontbumper here in Denmark :-)

Best regards
Brian S Jensen

Upgrading to LCI and not M5? Insanity!

I would have thought 668 would be easy to find though.

Personally, I don't like the M5-bumber upgrade for a non-M5 car - I would go for the M-Tech bumber - pretty similar, but stil different

The only difference is a line going between the grill right? Either way...the M5/M-Tech bumpers look much better than either facelift or non-facelift stock E39 bumpers.

You could go with the Aplina bumper? If your willing to spend the money, it would definitely be unique.

The Alpina bumber isn't a complete bumber - just a "spoiler" that is attached to the original bumper (and in my opinion, doesn't look any better than the faceliftet one - but then again, we all got different taste :-) )

You'll also be spending ~$400 on plastic liners/belly pan along with the M5 bumper if you go that route

facelift

a nice facelift includes updated bumper cover(M-Tech or M5), updated headlights with halo's(or at least new lenses), painted rear lip/spoiler, and you are in there!!!
Check out my before and afters!
