E39 (1997 - 2003)
The BMW 5-Series (E39 chassis) was introduced in the United States as a 1997 model year car and lasted until the 2004 when the E60 chassis was released. The United States saw several variations including the 525i, 528i, 530i and 540i. -- View the E39 Wiki

rough start

Sup guys can someone tell me why my car sounds really loud when I first start the car when it's cold then when it warms up it sounds normal???

Describe the noise-and what year and model are you working with-cold start noise is usually the timing chain tensioner weak spring letting the chain slap against the case until warmed up

Also when your belt going bad it usually makes a squeaking squealing noise right??.well mines does that too but only sometimes not a everyday thing but I check my belt and it looks fine I say,I'm not a mechanic but it feels like it's all the thread is there??
