My pics from Bimmerfest '09...

For starters I would like to thank the Bimmerfest team for putting on such a great event at a great new location. Despite not being able to go 10 feet without running into someone I knew I still got to walk the grounds several times. Unfortunately I was so busy at the ESS booth answering questions about my M Coupe and its blower that I didn't get to take as many pics as I would normally have...and many of my pics are Z-centric (deal with it). Off we go...

Going through downtown LA at 5am:

Sunrise, in the valley:

Morning fog descending into Oxnard:

Sunlight breaking through, prior to Ventura:

Passing a group of E30s:

First view of the Pacific:

Low clouds in the hills over Carpinteria:

Sunlight behind:

I took a wrong turn and ended up on the other side of Foothill Rd. I had a good drive to get to the polo grounds

In line to get in:

Waiting for Roman to show up with my vendor pass (I was early):

Roman, with his supercharged M3, and the rest of the ESS crew:

Driving to our spot on the grass:

Parked, ready to set up:

The two new E89 Z4s, being prepped by BMWNA:

Scatha, cleaned off in the ESS booth:

5 BMWs, 5 completely different blower kits (twin screw, Vortech, ASA, E46, E39, E86, E92):

The new Z4s:

A distant shot of the western edge of Bimmerfest, prior to everyone arriving:

The production version of ESS's E92 supercharger kit:

Another shot of the booth:

I was surprised how many people stopped by to look at Scatha. Normally she's relatively ignored except by other Z people. So I took a couple pics just of people looking at her:

A very clean E30 engine bay:

Haretakis' Z4 MC:

That dude who broke the continental speed record, he was there:

The VF display, which made for good composition if lacking variety:

Is this guy wearing the "ginger" wig, or is this his real hair?

The StopTech guys, showing off their wares:

Some of the ZSCCA boys:

Ian's new stripes:

Scott and his new 135 race car at the Nitto booth:

The documentary film crew, and cheerleaders:

My nominee for "worst wheel/ride height" award:

A shot down one of the many rows at Bimmerfest:

There was an amazing 2002, twin turbo'd, with a CF hood (looked stock from outside) and a Porsche transaxle to balance the weight! My nominee for "coolest car in show"

Some interesting wheels

Back at the ESS booth. Different lighting conditions = more pics:

ESS's new 550hp, $10k E39 M5 supercharger kit's public debut:

A row of E30s:

An interesting paint idea

Some panoramas I put together in Pshop:

Here's a layup of the splitter on my Z4 MC and the Varis piece on DeKnight's MC:

I also made a layup of all four E92 supercharger kits that I saw at the show:

Several girls stopped to pose by Scatha at various times throughout the show (again, a first). One of the ones who wanted a picture of herself behind the wheel:

More closeups of Scatha:

The ESS booth towards the end of the show:

Ready to go to dinner with MFIZZLENYC and VetteRacer:

Heading to dinner:

After dinner I went on a solo drive to find a special-looking road in the hills above Santa Barbara. I didn't find it, but I found some other fun roads:

Heading up 154 to my parents' place I stopped for a quick photo shoot:

Sunset begins:

Lake Cachuma at Sunset:

Almost to Santa Ynez:

Some driveway shots at dusk:

The End:

As always, very nice. Thanks for sharing the photos; the panoramas were very cool.

Re: people finally showing interest in your car, perhaps now that it is out of production the Z4/Z4M Coupes will start to be appreciated by people other than those who were originally interested enough to buy one, much like the Z3/MZ3 Coupes. A lot of people are still unaware there was a coupe variant of the Z3, so I wouldn't be surprised if even fewer yet know about the Z4 coupe.

Thanks again.

-I try not to. The new Z4s are irrelevant to me. Nothing about them appeals to my driving needs. Absolutely nothing
