"N" is the code for the South African plant, not Z. "NJxxxxx" is a SA built Automatic equipped car, "NHxxxxx" is a SA built car with manual tranny.

NJ00010 on the EPC comes up as a ZA E46 318.
NH00010 on the EPC comes up as a NA E46 325.

I've been in the business for several years, and every recent E46 built in South Africa has had the code "N" in the VIN. Of those, all of the automatics were NJ, and all the manuals NH. I have a 325i (SA) 5 speed in my own garage, and it's VIN is NHxxxxx.

The NH one is not on the EPC that I have. All the others come up with 02 or 03/2003 production dates as USA cars so something is screwed up.
I have the 2001 BMW model codes and serial number ranges sheet.
The SA 325i's begin with NE55xxx or ND45xxx, code 0145. I assume that 0245 is NF??XXX and NG??XXX and that 0345 is NH??XXX and NJ??XXX.
Do you have the 2002 and 2003 ones that you could post?

My 325 is a 2002 model, and the VIN is NHxxxxx

We have one 2001 325 in stock, SA build with 5 speed. VIN is NExxxxx. All of our other 2001's are German build, FVxxxxx and FUxxxxx.

We have a handful of 2002 325's that are SA build, and they eitehr NJxxxxx and NGxxxxx.

5th digit W is incorrect. AW33 is the body code for my 01 325i Touring.

And everything I've ever seen re: N factory code jives with what SARAFIL says.
