only someone with more money than common sense will pay that price, I'm not sure WTH BMW is thinking they'll accomplish at that price point, sales will likely hit an all time low for Zs

I totally agree, but here in Newport Beach, you described the average BMW owner. My closest two dealers won't budge from MSRP. Found a dealer about 30 miles away who will discount $2400. Better than no discount if you want the car now, and lack some common sense! |

Yep, it can only go down. Its alot more car than the old one, but isnt every replacement model alot more car than the old one?? Look at Mercedes, they just introduced a completely new EClass, and reduced the entry price $3,000! Believe me, there is alot more car there too.
So you're at a BMW dealer and have $60k to burn. Take a look around and I cant believe a loaded 09 Z4 would be your choice, unless you just have to be the first guy in town in a new Z4. My local dealer has an '08 M3 coupe with a few thousand miles on it, listed at $48k. So if you beat that down a bit you could have that and say a clean '04 325i as a commuter.....for $60k. An M3 is ALOT more car than a Z4, lets not even get into parallels on this one. No wait, perhaps I would get a brand new M3 sedan with Technology package for $60k!! Dont want something as ballistic as an M3? Go for a 335i convertible loaded, same engine, same performance, also a folding hardtop, but seats 4/5 and more luggage space, we could go on. Good luck guys

Yeah - I'm with the common sense people on this one.
I'm looking at the Z4 Ms and you can get two for the price of a new whatever they call them now - 35is I think one of the problem with the new Z4 is that it's made in Europe and it costs more to produce than the old one. Euro > Dollar |

Ha ha. Yep thats about right. Pretty funny when you are standing next to the first one at the dealer and another customer (an M3 driver) asks the salesman what sdrive stands for. He didnt have a clue! I answered "It means standard drive, as in rear wheel drive, and its bloody stupid, means nothing really"
