New X3 pics

Found these on roadfly. The quality is not all that great but still pretty damn neato in my book.

I still don't know if I like it or not. I haven't been keeping up with X3 info, but it doesn't look as funky/radical looking as I thought it would have been.

They'll be going on sale sometime in February or March, but rumor has it we'll see some demo units in a few months. I'll keep you posted.

Cool, I cant wait to actually see one in person. My wife wants one really BAD when they come out. I wonder what the lease rates are going to be like.

Do you also think the X5 is ugly? They look very similar.

Yes and no... the pre-facelift X5 looked pretty good. The facelifted X5 looks bad. The X3 shares some of the X5's looks, but just doesn't look right in the end. I don't like the tail lights. I don't like the headlights. I don't like the enormous amount of cheap looking black plastic on the outside used to suggest this car is built for the off-road when the most likely place you'll spot the X3 is at Sam's Club.

BMW is trying too hard with these designs. No doubt they'll probably sell like hotcakes, but it certainly doesn't make it "right" IMHO. With each redesign they further distance themselves from me as a customer, and that ultimately means Porsche is getting my business next.

yeah, but every new Porsche design released since 2000 has been ugly too

I'll take "Porsche ugly" over "big-butts and eyebrows ugly" any day.

The rear looks kinda choppy, like an after thought. I like the headlights though. I wish they'd put a set of those on the new 5.

Looks ok. I wonder what it drives like? How much does it weight?

Try: http://www.bmwusa.com/newX3 for additional pictures and information. I understand it has some type of folding or sliding top that opens up the entire passenger area to sunlight, concept vehicle. Looks good to me especially if it qualifies for European Delivery.

Vehicle Assembly --> Products

Check the other cars which are also getting produced at that plant. Very interesting.

Alex, danke again for the information, it was very positive until I saw that Jeep Grand Cherokee was one of their vehicles. I owned a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee, it was the worst piece of junk on the planet. I finally took Jeep to arbitration and they had to buy it back less a small mileage allowance. It spent almost as much time at the dealership as it did in my garage. I know Jeeps are produced/assembled/engineered in the USA but the quality is highly suspect. I hope they assemble a much better product when the X3 becomes a reality.
Is their Austrian facility unionized?
Also, have you heard anything regarding a european delivery plan for the X3?

Sorry to hear about the probs you had with your US-built Jeep (at a Chrysler factory). Steyr's Austrian facility is a contract manufacturer -- the Grand Cherokee's they build are for European market sales. I also believe Steyr has also produced the MB G-class in the past (and may still), so the X3 quality will hopefully be pretty high...
