Battery Check Light On Battery - 545i

When I was looking around for my water leak yesterday I noticed that my battery indicator ( on the battery) was dark/black. Last time I looked at it a few months back it was green. It can have 3 indications according to the label

Yellow -Battery Fault
Black - insufficient charge
Green- good

I normally drive long distances. I don't have any non-BMW accessories. I was surprised to see the dark indicator.

Anyone experience this, then have a failure soon after?

Try a battery charger to boost the battery. If it turns green, then your alternator or regulator may not be charging the battery adequately.

What year is your 545i? Is that the original battery? How many miles on your car?

New Battery Installed

Well.... The original battery in my 545i finally yielded to the environmental disposal process. One year almost to the date of my posting the battery died!

I purchased a Batteries Plus Ray o Vac replacement as I understand still a Werker brand.

I can't complain on a 6 year old battery!

WOW! 6 years on the original battery - I think you got your money's worth! Even better, your DIY replacment saved a bunch of $$$'s for sure. Where did you find that brand of battery? Mine is 4 years old and I'm thinking it's about time to replace and it's really an easy DIY replacement.

I purchased at Batteries Plus. The battery has the exact CCA of 850 and is a 95RH9 battery.

However, you can buy the 95R H9 battery at several places like Autozone, Pep Boys etc. Its just the batteries Plus battery had the exact same CCA as the original BMW battery.

I purchased for 179.99.

I bought a Bosch 94R for my wife's 330i and it was white and identical to the BMW original that I took out. It was 149.99.

This has been the summer of batteries for me.
