Ford or BMW? Side by side comparison

Fusion or 328?

'Came back to the parking lot the other day and was amused finding this Ford Fusion parked alongside. So I snapped a couple of shots with the cell phone.

It's a tough call, but I think the aesthetics scale just tips a bit towards the BMW. What do y'all think?

Ford, like most American car companies right now, is really amused by shiny things obviously. I really dont get what is up with the chrome everywhere.

I mean I have a fair amount on the M3 and stock 335d, but it is NOTHING like that all chrome huge grill and lights and accents

Lol! I agree! I'm not a big chrome fan. I was glad to see the shadowline trim came with the sports package on the 328. And I simply cannot stand those Ford tail lights.

A Ford is nothing but a rebadged Jaguar!

And everyone knows that Ford's have no status.




I am not a big fan of the Ford Fusion or the Chevy Malibu for that matter but I have to acknowledge that the American manufacturers are not a clueless as they were a few year ago. Unfortunately it may be too little too late.

I actually like the way the new Mustangs look. I think there are plenty of decent American cars out there.

However, I think the Ford Fusion's styling is horrible.... but then... that guy probably thinks my car's styling is just too dull and boring, lol.

There aren't to most of them, so why should this be different?

The Ford GT was an incredible car (near the top of my dream list). Still, they couldn't come up with an original idea and had to copy one from the 1960's, just like the Mustang.

Next week, we'll do a comparison of e30's vs similar vintage Yugos.

Does that mean McDonald's will not serve you french fries if you are driving one?

Just park and walk in. Normally they don't look to see what you rode in on.

The new gen Fusion is not a bad looking car. Much better than the one next to your car.

Yep, too much chrome. And the taillights look like something from an older Accord or Prelude.

I know the fusion is a great car, I'd definitely recommend it to someone that doesn't want to drop $40k on a car.....but it looks cheap next to the E92.

As a scientist, I am really disappointed in the way that you selected your sample population for the experiment. I am assuming that you have the same post on fusionfest, as well as on camryfest as a control?

PS The BMW needs an M badge, or at least the three stripes...

First, I'm getting a nice wing spoiler that sits up about a foot off the trunk.

I'll badge it after that.

BMW is not necessarily the default winner in the BMW vs. Ford style competition.

I pass by a farm stand on my daily commute. Somebody there has a red mustang, always parked out front, always perfectly detailed... it's a striking car. Beautiful.

Wouldn't trade mine for it, but I respect those that love theirs.

I feel the same way about pigs humping. I wouldn't hump one myself, but I respect the fact that they like humping each other!

Yes it is. We rented that car in Palm Beach for two weeks in 2006. In 2007 we rented the convertible version. Those Shelbys attracted more attention than any other car I have every driven.

That is one reason I would never want to own one. I dont like driving cars that attract a ton of attention TBH.

Though I would make an exception for a few super cars out there

Yeah... that's why I didn't get the Bugatti.

They are awful in the snow too.

The new Fusion and Taurus are very good looking cars. Probably because they have more European looks. They still have too much chrome.
