Maybe with your age and experience you have learned to appreciate the wisdom of the OEM engineering. I used to have a Miata and was on Miata.net where so many guys would mod this and that only to conclude that the stock part was just as good or better. Often the compromises the manufacturer makes are good decisions for the majority of us.

I honestly don't remember, but I might have expressed interest in it. I do not, however, have a JB+. I don't wish to spoil my warranty with BMW N.A. I did install one of Terry Burger's intakes to entertain myself with the whooshing of the turbos. That one is staying on the car for the present, because it makes noises that make me giggle.

However...

I just returned from an extended drive, and this cat-back exhaust is coming off the car as soon as I can arrange to do so (I had my mechanic install it.) It has the WORST interior sound of any car in memory with the exception of a friend's 1968 Camaro set up for drag racing. The entire car vibrates palpably at 2,000 RPM. Maybe it's an E90 phenomenon, but I have no other frame of reference. Outside the car, the exhaust sounds not much louder than stock at idle. A bit deeper, perhaps. It is somewhat louder under throttle than the stock exhaust. It also pops a little upon deceleration, which is honestly the only thing I enjoyed. Well, that and the mufflers are very shiny. I like bright, shiny objects. The people at Ultimate Racing were very timely in shipping it out, and I had no other problems with the transaction. As a company, I HIGHLY recommend dealing with them. This one product is not for me, though. Neither is a paid membership to a foot fetish site.

I enjoy trying new things when it comes to some performance parts. This one didn't work out. YMMV, etc., etc. This exhaust, used for one day and approximately 60 miles, for sale and shipped at a loss. I have no room to store it anyway, as every other nook and cranny in my home is taken by my son's toys, wife's shoes, bass guitars and other sound equipment. PM me, if interested.

I put a Borla exhaust on my E46 330i. It drove me nuts (resonating at just the wrong times). I took it off and went back to stock... and I was happy again. Not too old -- just the wrong exhaust (a good exhaust will never resonate).
