Aftermarket pedals
I'm curious to see some pics of what people have done here on their cars.
I saw the standard BMW aftermarket pedals today at the dealership (of course they don't have them in stock) which for my car I think comes with 4 including the foot rest. How difficult are they to install? It looks like the clutch and brake on my car currently just are rubber and would peel off and I assume the new ones go on the same way. The gas pedal is one big piece of plastic and doesn't just come off. How about the foot rest. Any others here you would sugggest to look at. I would like a frosted metal look with bumps as opposed to the diagonal ones like BMW has.

I think they are fairly easy to remove/add. There are some DIY instructions around somewhere that I read awhile back.
One thing to keep in mind is that the shiny/stainless shows dirt and water spots a lot easier. It looks nice when clean, but even the stainless dead pedal on the M3 looks really dirty in no time at all.

They are not too difficult, just requires a drill (I recommend wall powered) and tungsten drill bits to get through the brake and clutch.
We carry the Bimmian Brushed Pedal Sets which are available in all transmission configurations and an optional footrest. I have these on my 135 and I like the look to match the interior aluminum trim. They also have rubber slats that help grip in the wet. |

FWIW I installed a heel/toe pedal, I didn't like the silver look so I ended up painting it black:

I have the Bimmian installed in my wife's 335:

So both of these (Bimmian and Ultimate) require drilling into all four pedals? What would happen if I removed those at lease end? Get dinged for holes in the pedals I assume. (assuming I turn it in then and don't keep it...which I actually may keep). I would actually prefer the Ultimates with some small rubber plugs on it.

Ultimate pedals are available with rubber plugs if that is what you want (although I would have to say the all metal pedals are less slippery to me).

I installed BMW pedals into my 335xi and had no problems when trading in (I appreciate lease is different). I have some ultimate pedals with square rubber inserts on order. I can let you know what I think if you can wait a couple of weeks.

Does the heel-toe interfere much day-to-day? Do you inadvertently clip the gass from time-to time? I thought about the heel-toe insert, but thought it better to 'play safe'

The BMW pedals are not bad for heel/toe from the factory but the extension makes them work that much better. I was warned by another M Coupe owner on one of the forums to be careful as he has the same pedals and realized they might be a problem for some people in some panic/emergency situations.....but we have a lot of non-drivers with driver's licenses in the metro Atlanta area so I have found in my limited quick brake testing that they work fine for me.
