Hey, anyone know every part I need to do a S38swap? Do I need the trans from the M5? Or can I go with one off of a different car?

I was actually reading up on this a while back on BFC I believe. Im pretty sure the engine weighs quite a bit more than the S52. For what reasons would you want to swap in that specific engine?

Edit: the s38 weighs 1lb less than the euro M3 motor... Still curious why that motor would be your choice, seems like it'd be super expensive to maintain, and more work to do than the euro motor swap It'd be unique for sure, but would it be worth the headache?

Yeah, I think it's a wopping 6lbs? more than the US Spec. I want to do an S38 because I want to keep my car NA and being an inline six. Also it comes stock with 310hp/ is one of the strongest engines BMW ever made. I'd get an S50 B32 imported but it costs just as much if not a little more an has been done so many times. Basically I'm almost maxed out for NA power I can get out of my S50 and I just want more... And to have something a bit ridiculous.

My current set up is going to get saved for an e30

^Naturally. I'm just curious to see how two maxed out S50s would compare.

We really can't make that judgment for you. It's going to be a really involved swap with all the electronics, etc.

Lol Ian vs. Temoc would be epic!
