Yeah, I wish it was smaller, but they said it ways 88 pounds less than the E92.

Ok, I'll say it; that is ****ing disgusting. Terrible. Honestly, it looks like they took a new 5 series, a fresh dog turd, and then said, "How can we combine these two pieces of **** into one?"

The result is the 2012 3 series.

It pains me to see where cars are heading. I would, in less than a hummingbird's heartbeat, take a new Cadillac CTS over any e90/newer BMW. Or a newer C Class Mercedes. Or a Camry. No joke.

I think BMW probably should have called the 1 series the 2 series instead, because you know it's just gonna get fat like the 3er and than what are they going to call their new small car?, the 0 series?, that's just silly.

Yeah, Ken, despite being bigger, it's actually lighter than the outgoing model. Not by much, but still. I don't know what the obsession is with getting bigger with each new generation, though. It's like each car maker has to have the most leg room, shoulder room, trunk space, etc. to be competitive. Am I the only one who does not give a flying crap if my back seat has more leg room than an Audi, Merc, Infinity?!

Whenever I see a new car design, I feel like an old man. I remember how my dad and uncles used to talk about how cars today had no soul, were boring, etc... And now I realize, I'm the same way. I pity any generation that thinks these new BMWs are sporty or "cool"

Years from now you wont hear about people talking about the "soul" or character of a car (like the e30, e36, e34, e39 etc). They'll be bragging that in 2012, their 330i had the most legroom, best heated steering wheel, and most user friendly bluetooth

I think you def. nailed it there....not everyone one wants to spend money on an M to get a smaller 3 series, and they are not that much smaller either just look sportier.

Whachyou know about godspeed turbos? buddy just bought one for like 65 bucks and has to rebuild it, but after more searching hes kinda second guessing it (very mixed reviews). around here you can sell something like that for 100-150 bucks, so he isnt going to lose if he opts not to. he only wants to run like 16 pounds on race day and 10-12 on driving...any thoughts? (he asked me and i was like wtf i dunno)

Agreed Karl. For the family car I have to care that carseats can fit. Aside from that, I've never cared about backseat legroom or other useless crap. My friends can crumple their legs up.

And HUD really is something that should be in every car. It's awesome. My dad had it in his - get this - 2000 Pontiac Bonneville. Why its just now making it to a 3er is beyond me. I don't think it was even an option on any BMW until midway thru E60, but a 2000 GM turd had it. And it was truly great, if you've never driven a car with it you don't know what you're missing.

I probably wouldn't run one. And why would he run more on raceday? I would do the opposite.

That new 3 series is hideous. It looks no different than the other crap they make now.

I just realized something. We all sound exactly like the guys that owned E9s, E21s, E24s, E30s etc. when the E36s came out.

I don't care what your driver's license says, we're all old farts when it comes to the new BMWs.

Doesn't more boosts = more powahz = better acceleration? I dunno, I'm still learning about all this shiz.

I personally like the newer styling. Sure as hell beats e60 or the prefacelift e90. Yeah it's chunky, but it has lines. It's kind of like a girl who has really big boobs and a big ass but has a good body curve. Big, but good looking

See but the thing is, the e36 still isn't a very big car, and still has a focus on driving. The e46 IMHo was the last generation of a true driving car

Yeah, I'm definitely an old fart when it comes to cars.

And as far as HUD goes, I'm pretty sure a number of GM products had it back in the '90s. The C5 Corvette comes to mind, and I think some of the Buick Regals, etc. had it as well. It's kind of funny how different car makers adopt different ideas about what makes for safe driving. Some people think that you should use HUD and put the relevant speed info right where you look through the windshield (makes sense to me), and others like Mini, Scion/Toyota, etc. put the speedometer in the middle of the freakin' dash.

Yeah, the Minis are supposed to be stupid fun, but I cannot deal with that toybox interior. Looks like a Fisher-Price toy inside.
