Yeah, the GF wants to move to the Bay Area. Anyway, usually I do drive year round, but I park it when we get any snow, which only happens about once per winter, if that.

Actually, we've barely driven at all in the last week. During the work week, I commute by bike or bus, and we can walk to the grocery store, etc., so most of our driving takes place on the weekends. We had snow beginning last weekend, so I didn't drive the BMWs then, and then the work week started (no driving again), and then the storm came midweek. The streets are back to normal now, so we did take the Subaru out last night. The BMWs won't be used until sometime next week after all the salt has washed away. And no, I treat the E34 as if it was my own car, so that means no driving it in the snow.

I have very little knowledge of the Bay Area, and I've only visited once. The GF would want to live in SF or Berkeley. I'm an academic researcher, so I'd have to be near to Stanford, UC Berkeley, or UFSC. I also want to be near a race track, so that would be Infineon. But like I said, I have no familiarity of the Bay Area. There could be a number of areas surrounding SF or Berkeley that would be nice to live.

Anyway, I'm interviewing for a new job here in Seattle on Thursday, so nothing is going to happen soon though. My GF's sister and her husband are moving to SF in a few months, so hopefully I'll get the chance to visit more frequently and check the area out. I'd be awfully sad to leave the PNW behind though. It's really beautiful here, and the car scene is awesome.

Yeah, I grew up in Michigan, where if you don't slip on the ice, you'll slip on the heaps of salt the trucks put down. Now that I'm on the west coast, it's hard to imagine a life with rusty cars and salt. It's incredible what you will see here on a daily basis. All those '70s and '80s Toyotas, Hondas, and VWs with paper thin steel that practically turned to dust after two years are all still prowling the streets out here.
