Since M3 and 328 flywheels are the same, I should be able to use an M3 flywheel with the kit, right? I can't find any M52 flywheels, but I found a bunch of S52 ones.

->These both suggest that you can use a larger flywheel with a smaller clutch, but not visa versa.

http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...+clutch+getrag

->Brings up the question of making sure your 325 flywheel is dual mass?
--> "A ZF trans in a M3 and 328 are different. The bell housing is one of the things that make the difference. 325's and 328's use a smaller 228mm flywheel while the M3 uses the bigger 240mm flywheel. The bigger 240 flywheel will fit in a trans for the 325/328 but the starter has to be modified, the gear mesh will be too tight and will sound horrible. ZF and Getrag for a 325/328 can be swapped out but when you start playing with flywheels make sure you have the correct one. (personal experiences!!)"

That's all I've found so far CJ.

I've never heard of that... My friend has this f1 kit sitting around and is willing to sell it for the ebay price... I wouldn't have have to modify anything, right? Matt has an F1 in his Getrag and I don't remember hearing about that.

In an E30, but same issue

228mm 325 flywheel doesn't work with 240mm 328 (or M3) clutch. Sorry to say CJ. Though from all I've read, a larger flywheel will work with a smaller clutch, so I (sincerely hope) you'll be okay

Yes, Matt (and Frank IIRC) have the F1 kits, (I've one too, but haven't put it in yet, I'll be doing that at the end of the month when I get my car out of storage), though we all have the F1 flywheels with them.

Thanks for the research, Ed, but I'm gonna go get that F1 kit from my friend. I really have no desire to mess around with these parts anymore. Plus I was planning on upgrading anyway. If you don't want the clutch kit back, that's fine. I'll still pay for it obviously.

Random thought: What if I color matched my shift surround and/or glove box trim to my exterior color?

Kind of a blatant rip off of a porsche thing but... idk.

My rough plans have been to de carbon-wrap the shift surround and go back to stock, leave the CF wrap on the glove box trim, and have suede/tri-stitched door panels be the focal point on the interior.

CJ: we'll figure something out. Like I said, I'm in no form of rush.

Bad idea Joey. IMO it'll look like crap.

Ended up getting the m42 radiator. The m20 rad she had was for an early model and the hoses dont line up with my m50. Done some more reading and it seems like the only times m42 were not liked was when the owners failed to bleed the coolant properly. Otherwise, it cooled the engine just fine

Joey, idk how I feel about that.. Even on the Porsche it seems kinda tacky, and if a porsche cant pull it off, well.....

got some pictars up from stuff i've done lately.

here's a few 'marbles' i made doing some lampworking earllier in the week. cool stuffs fer sure...not sure if anyone has ever worked with glass of not, but here they are...

pic not the best...took a few and must have deleted them...

anyway, i made some mushrooms in the glass.

it's done by getting a gather of glass at the end of the rod, and then allowing it to cool a bit, then heat up just the edge to get the core hot.

then you take a colored rod of a thinner diameter, heat it up real light and quick (just a wave or 2 in the flame, about 1/2 @ second or so) and then take the gather out of the flame and push the colored rod into the gather. the core heat from the gather will melt the colored glass, and then as it (the colored glass) goes farther into the core it spreads out to form the cap of the mushroom. then the base is heated and the colored rod is removed and the stem is now formed.

after that it's just a fire polish to smooth it all out, attatch a 'cold punty' to remove from the gather rod and let it cool.

again, wish i had better pics. glass is a difficult subject to get right and i do not have the 'right' set up to do so, but i just thought it was a cool project.

i hope you guys dig.

Good lord. The Mustang could almost be cool in a muscle car kind of way if it weren't for the wheels.

Interesting choice of location for the hood scoop on the Mitus, however...
