They are nice looking wheels, however; hop on NASIOC, look at any picture thread, and you will see those wheels in every color imaginable, on at least 4 cars per page in a 1000+ page thread...

Either Crank Position Sensor or Cam Position Sensor. I forget how you abbreviate each, so I just type 'em out.

Yea they're both CPS...

It's not a tough job, though, especially for you. The Crank sensor has to see movement or fuel won't dump into the engine. Mine went out on my 6 and it was tough to diagnose, but you'd basically get a misfire because fuel was shut off while you're driving...

You also can't start the car without that signal. As for the camshaft sensor, well, I'm not sure what your symptoms would be, but probably misfires and difficulty starting. I don't know when then injectors go off but my guess is they're related. That could cause issues.

I believe this is different for the E36. You don't get spark either with a bad crank sensor.

Probably. Unless lighting or flooding is in the immediate forecast, Autox's and track days usually solder on.

Plus side for you is if you're on all-seasons or just good deep-tread street tires you considerably level the playing field against all the people with fancy schmancy <200 TW tires.

Downside is the interior of the car is going to get freaking soaked because the windows have to be down during the runs. The final nail in the coffin of my original steering wheel (and the ZHP knob i still have to a lesser degree) was a very, very, very wet circuitcross I did a while back.

Almost stuffed my car into a wall that day too.

Edit: Not to scare you though, if it's raining you should totally still go. Just don't wear gloves and try to keep the inside closed up as much as possible. Once you realize you're not going to go very fast and just start having fun, autocrosses in the rain are freaking awesome. Great way to feel what the car is like in low grip conditions without shredding tires too much and putting yourself in danger. I'm not going to be able to make it down, I'm probably going to spend most of this weekend working.
