Don't think you can get away without one here.

I thought he got it on top of the E36, not instead of it.

Clark sold his E36 near the end of last summer. Bought the truck in september or something like that.

I don't endorse doing stupid things like this...

But one of the coolest things I ever did was take my Razor scooter, tie a rope from it to a car and have them drive at about 15mph. Slam on the back brake and slide from curb to curb with it being perfectly smooth. Flattened the little rubber tire in about 60 seconds but I would gladly pay the money for a wheel to do it again. Sounds lame but it was such a blast. You have complete control and it's not "that" unsafe.

Oh hey guys, sorry I started talkin about trucks and disappeared yesterday.

Anyway:

No.

I wouldn't even consider the BMW, if I buy anything that gets that bad of mileage its certainly not going to do it on premium. Also, while GCs aren't the most reliable little trucks, they are a far cry better than the RR would be. I want to be able to service it myself with cheap parts, hand tools and the internet, without taking that much time away from fiddling with the M3.

I know what boat you're in, trying to find a decent SUV for a decent price with decent fuel mileage.

If you really want a Jeep, I would get the grand Cherokee with the 4.0, you can get leather and all the goodies, and average 18mpg if you drive like a grandpa. Not sure on towing though.

This body style:

Thing is, my CU will only finance back to an 05, which is why I was thinking 06-07 model. Those got a different trans, even have the slapshifter thingy dug out of the merc parts bin. That being said I do sort of prefer the older body styles. I'd have to save up and pay cash for one though, which would probably be a smarter financial decision but I'd have to wait like another year to get it. Whatever I buy I want this car to be relatively no muss no fuss. I dont want to deal with a bunch of finicky quirky crap, the E36 gives me enough. The GC would be my trusty, get-me-anywhere sidekick while the M3 spends the next winter or three in pieces.

I have driven the 3.7L in a liberty and that trans was awful. Combined with a complete lack of power it was perpetually upshifting and downshifting trying to find the 3 or 4 pathetic flea bitten horsepower in there somewhere. I've driven the newer Jeep with the 4.7L and the 5.7L but neither times I was even remotely thinking about buying one so I wasn't even paying attention to it. I know on my best day with either V8 I can expect 15-16 if I drive easy, which is my biggest reservation about it, but if i get that house I'll only drive 7/mi each way.

My 6.5 (the motor before the dmax) gets me 12-15 on 60/40 oil/diesel, and up to 17 on straight diesel. Keep in mind I have a 1 ton dually truck too, so weight and aerodynamics aren't exactly on my side.

Make sure to stay away from the choke-n-strokes.

I mean powerjokes. The older ones I've heard had lots of problems. And plus, it's a ford
I don't want a full sized truck up here. My parents have a 2000 Powerstroke (the "bad" one) and I love that thing to death. Even at 7.3L it will get 17-18 on the highway. We've had it since 2000 and put 130k on it and its still alive and kicking with no major issues. I'd drive a truck but

1.) Any diesel vehicle is likely to be waaay to expensive for me or too old for my CU to finance unless its a Jetta, and

2.) more importantly, everything where I live is too damn small for a full sized. I'd have to do a 5 point turn every morning to get out of my parking spot.

3.) I'm a city boy who likes cars and home improvement, I don't need a 6ft bed for haulin brush and lumber and hay (like my parent's chokenstroke has been doing faithfully), anything I need should wedge into the back of a GC, and any lumber can stick out of the glass for the 1.5mi ride home.

...oh.

I thought it was the one that got harped on for it's cold start issues, but now that you mention it I do remember the later ones that were barely over 6.0L and hearing a lot of complaints.

Ours wants to start like a nun wants to f*ck when its below freezing and not plugged in. Hell, even plugged in it has a hard time. A lot of times I let the glow plugs cycle a full two times before cranking and it still rocks the truck back and forth so much you think it's gonna jump off the ground and do a barrel roll.

One time we were at Snowshoe in west VA and the fuel actually froze in the lines while it was running. We had to have it towed down the mountain to a shop and put it inside next to a wood burning furnace and thaw the whole damn thing out. To be fair it was -25, but still.

Despite that, its refusal to break and the complete absurdity of the size of the engine, not to mention everywhere my family has taken it in the past 12 years, I love the sh!t out of that truck. If my dad ever sells it I'll be so sad.

So I've been saving up money to buy about 20 of these things... Hoping for an increase of about 200-300 horsepower (power increases exponentially with each one due to vortex force fields) so I can spin my tires on the highway like that M5. Also, it will pay itself off over the next few months due to the increase in gas mileage.

I know you guys think I'm stupid, but I actually thought about it... I'm going to make an extended intake tube that goes across the engine bay so they all fit. Believe me, I've done my research.

I wish! They wanna make my current location a "bike location", as in "you will ride this baby blue trek around the mall property. Kiss any respect others had for you out the window."
Luckily I'm gonna be getting my own squad car very soon so I can gtfo of there..

But fo realz, this subaru is driving me mad right now, so much crap has gone downhill in the past month alone...

Lol. At dinner last night I think the security guard had just got a Segway for the first time or something.....he was zooming around at full speed doing laps around the place. Wasn't looking at anything or anyone as he went around, just was racing around.

Sorry about the Scoobie.
