I know it sounds crazy, so I would appreciate some constructive criticism on my plan. Only part I'm worried about is the paint. I've done the whole parts-swapping thing over and over again.
I will set myself a safety net. If I don't finish the paint on schedule, I will store the new car and swap everything over during winter break.

It'll add some work but if you prime and fine sand it's an easier surface to paint and get a good result than a wet sanded finish paint surface. The good part about painting your own car is you can keep trying until you get it right.

Cj I like your ambition. It makes me wish I didn't have a job so I could paint my truck. But I also have lots of rust to fix...and I hate rust

Cj, I would honestly save your money for a professional paint job. I doubt you'll be happy if you don't have experience. I know I wouldn't trust myself.
If you do an ok paint job and put it all together, you may regret not getting it done by a professional later. Sent from my ADR6400L using Bimmer App |

You're probably right about it not turning out great, Matt. I've never been the type of person to hand it over to a professional, though. And I probably never will. The good thing is that it's not hard to repaint (or have it professionally repainted) in the future. It's not like I'll have to pull the engine, suspension and interior off if I want it repainted. At the end of the day, my car will be rust-free and cleaner than my old one, and I'll only be set back a few hundred bucks in paint, etc.

I'm hoping the more prepared I am and the more "H" stuff I have the less likely it is to see a "H".
Got this generator from Home Depot on line. Runs on liquid propane so you just hook your barbecue grill tank up to it. Since there's no gasoline in the carb you can store it indefinitely without having to worry about the carb getting screwed up. $349 with free shipping.
