I'm definitely leaning towards the HTC one too.

No iPhone considerations? Granted the 4S is a little behind the times design wise, but I have one anecdote to offer.

I had an OG Droid as my first smart phone. That f*ckin thing worked amazingly well for about 2 months, and them gave me 22 months of absolute torture. The operating system updates outpaced the capabilities of the hardare almost immediately. I spent almost 2 years staring at a blank background waiting for icons to load back on my homescreen. Reformats did nothing. I rooted and overclocked it once which helped, but its somehow unoverclocked itself and I couldn't get it back. I've never, every been happier to get rid of a phone. Thinking about it still pisses me off.

I've had my 4S for about a year now and it still feels like my "new phone." It never lags, ever. Unless you download a crappy app, everything will always work, all the time. The screen is small and doesn't make for reading and browsing as easily, but the resolution is so high you can zoom in and read letter by letter if you want.

Also, "4G" is more of a marketing term than an actually technology. There are so many different "4Gs" and ways to implement it its ridiculous. None of them perform as well as they claim though. I've heard 4G LTE is the closest to actually meeting the standards the term claims. You should make sure you have 4G coverage though, or else its wasted effort to get the device. I'm sure 4G would be faster, but my 3G iphone can still load a page fast enough to not frustrate me, and I'm used to 20+Mbs connections on full blown devices.

Honestly, I'd LOVE to get the Iphone, i'm obsessed with them, but I cant stomach $549 for the 4, or $649 for the 4S
I just dont use my phone enough to justify that kinda cost right now. I'm set on virgin mobile simply because its cheap, and it works perfectly for my GF and has for the past year.

4G LTE is flippin fast. Unless I'm very close to a router, it's actually faster than Wifi. I did a speed test and got 12Mbs.

Yea 4G is a disaster. The ITU technically owns the xG monikers, but after 3G it became apparent they had no power in enforcing it. Technically 3G requires 10 Mbps sustained for mobile devices, and 100Mbps for static devices (like a tower, or fixed antennae at a business, etc.) and 4G is 100/1000. The only current technology that is close, and has room to grow is LTE. The problem was (is!) cell companies made some decent strides in 3G technology to the point that they were beating the old 3G requirements (but not quite meeting 4G) and calling it 4G. Sprint was the first major US company to do this with their Clearwire stuff, then T-Mobile... Wireless communication technology is quite fascinating to me, so I learn about it when I can. I just hope the FCC can convince the mobile networks to cooperate and get the LTE networks to be compatible. Then we won't have the VZW/Sprint CDMA vs. AT&T/T-Mob/RestOfTheWorld GSM battles again, and everyone's phone calls can be handled digitally by the packet switching networks, rather than digital voice over the hodge-podge PBX. That will boost call clarity by leaps and bounds.

Anecdotally, a coworker of mine has the new Galaxy S3 and lives in Fremont, apparently near a 4G tower with not many other users, because he can get 40Mbps download speeds there.

Damn dude! Are you not buying a contract? Mine was $299 for the 32GB, the 16GB was $199.

This is 3G.

EDIT: Wait, Sh1t, that was on wifi. Gimme a sec.

EDIT 2: Lol, 3G tests are pathetic right now. Might have something to do with the fact that my office is an old airplane hanger with large steel girders added in for a 2nd floor and/or the stupid high popluation density around here.

I was either failing out or getting like .42Mbs down. I know I've seen near 10 before.

Yeah its Virgin, no contract. $35/month for 300 anytime minutes, unlimited text and data. Coverage here in Madison is pretty good too.

Seriously? I've never got anything like that and I've been all the hell over Fremont. Where is he that he gets those kind of speeds?

I have Verizon 4g lte. Dang fast on my HTC thunderbolt. I love this phone too, one of the first lte phones.

Haven't had a single problem with it, however it is the worst battery life phone lol. It will last me all day with easy battery saver though.

Honestly I'm not sure. Its through my dad with his small business discount and its bundled in with my mom, so I'm not sure how its all broken out. I think it might actually be $68 come to think of it, but its cheaper than the retail.

Phones, internet and cable are just way too expensive. Cable/Internet especially are toeing the monopoly line and are way too damn expensive for the god awful service they provide.

My Dad did the website, I've sent him your comments. You should try a dry Riesling. They're hard to find in VA, but they do exist.

I started out liking white wines, but as my palate aged I turned more to reds. Few ecstasies are greater than a perfect bold red and a rare prime rib.
Merlot, Cab, or Shiraz for me.......
