I'm driving down the highway, it's around 12:30am, at speed limit when I see lights behind me!!!

I'm like wtf, so I pull over, CHP points a gun at me and says step out the vehicle with your hands in the air, open the door from the outside and slowly walk towards my car!

I'm freaking out at this point, so he says sir, who's car is this, I said mine!!! He said are you sure? I'm like yes, so he walks Over to the car, starts looking around, pulls out the registration and sees my DL...

Someone plasti-dipped my license plate and the cop could not see any of the numbers

He apologized and help me peel off the plasti dip, I'm like wtf!!! Confused as hell... Idk who did it...

Edit: epic prank though!!!! Lol

Flip to lanscape then portrait, what you did there was that you were browsing in landscape went home came back to the app and now it thinks it's on landscape...

Small glitch should be fixed on the next update...

To be honest. I never really thought of using this with safari on the iPad.

I do wish I could see the sigs while on my phone.

On the phone it's ok to use while on the go, when I'm at home I use my Mac or IPad when I'm lazy, only thing you can't do is attach files onto any website unless you use iCab mobile(app store) but if I wanna post a pic I use photobucket most of the time...

Um, that is totally uncalled for given the nature of why you were pulled over. I'd be writing a letter to his superior. Won't do anything, but it will at least let the higher ranking folks know they have officers pulling guns on people because they can't read license plates. I mean, what about people who buy new cars with OEM tinted rear windows (SUVs, vans, etc.), and only have temporary paper plates taped inside the window? You can't see those for crap, either. Are they pulling guns on those people, too?

On an unrelated note, I just got back from a car show. Anyone care to guess what this belongs to?

The BMW 328 imported to GB by Frazer-Nash in the '50s?

for some reason those old sportsters look like kit cars to me...probably because i wasn't around then, i would think.

but yeah, some of my customers have old jalopies. morgans, mg's, desotos, model t's, and some others. iirc, the one is a chandler. aluminum block and oil pan. original. some funky stuff.

he's doing a complete frame off restoration. had cruise control, but that's because these things were set up to be driven like a tractor with foot accelerator or hand lever by the steering wheel.

i think it's interesting to see how they were designed back then, and how, when you look back, so much of that stuff was designed very simply (by todays standards) and how much tractor technology influenced the designs.

and i also believe the wheels are 20+ inches, so they were dubbin before the dubbers' grand daddies were born!!

Never thought of that, but he apologized and said to check my car periodically for vandalism and such, but also wouldn't it be a little suspicious to have your rear license covered up?

It could be anything, and I put myself in his position, it's just one highway patrol, he doesn't know what or who I have in my car.

But no harm done, just found it funny right after he took off!!!

I agree it was rather preemptive, but they have a tough job, it was a suspicious situation, and I think they were likely on high alert after Mondays shooting (CHP walked up to a Jeep for expired tags and the driver unloaded his gun on him).

If the officer had been a dick after Brad explained I'd agree with you, but I don't know that it warrants a letter to his superior.

Pulling a gun and forcing the driver to get out with hands up for a painted license plate, though? I understand being on edge, etc., and I know that walking up on a car without knowing who/what is inside is very dangerous, but man... Unless they had a report of someone else driving a similar car who had been involved in some sort of other crime, I don't find it excusable.

Karl...that was one gorgeous car. Thank you for sharing

Yay! Last Sunday night wasted thinking about getting up at 4am tomorrow for a weekly commute to Minneapolis. Yay!

Oh, and I went on my first 'ice cream run' with my local antique car club (they let me join in, since it's my neighbor who runs the club). Very fun...first time I think I ever took a drive just to enjoy the ride :-). Not so much fun was not being able to (initially) keep up in the z4 when a 1970 Alfa Romeo floored it.

Agreed. I know LEOs usually have high trigger pull weights, but they should only point their firearms at armed/weapon-wielding threats. It's too easy to turn a misunderstanding into a tragedy.

In other news: fluid jobs are the devil. Especially when I can't find a level spot of driveway.
