Not surprised at all. My girlfriend was in the ER during a major exam. She brought the prof a note from the doctor, still didn't let her make it up. They are serious about that shiit.
And THATs just messed up

Seattle doesn't actually get that much rain annually:

Quote:
Seattle ranks 44th among major U.S. cities in average annual rainfall, getting approximately 38 inches annually. Cities that get more rainfall than Seattle include such as Houston Texas (48 inches), New Orleans (60 inches), Mobile AL (65 inches), Memphis (52 inches), Nashville (48 inches), and pretty much every major city on the eastern seaboard, such as New York (43 inches), Philadelphia (41 inches), Miami (58 inches), and Boston (44 inches).

So just died laughing in my meeting today at work. My boss was telling us a story about when she spilt a milkshake all over the most popular kid in school many many years ago and she was so upset b/c she really wanted it. ONe of my co-workers spoke up and said you should have asked him if you could scrape it off his shirt and everyone kind of laughed a little bit. Then another one of my co-workers (keep in mind im 23 and everyone else in this meeting are 40 and over) said or you could just say "let me suck on you" while giving the motion of her hand up to her mouth like she was, well you know the rest. Needless to say the whole entire room erupted and everyone was in tears....it was hillarious.

I haven't seen hardly any businesses actually run on Mac on an enterprise scale, perhaps you could ask IT to give you a real computer.,

PS, gas over here by my office in the ghetto.

Sheez, those prices are insane. I wonder why you guys are so much worse than us, usually DC is right up there. Not that I'm envious or anything.

When I started here I had a PC laptop, but then I started doing some real work and I got a Macbook.

Seattle is known as a rainy city for a few reasons. Since it doesn't rain at all throughout the entire summer and into fall, when it does rain, it's condensed into fewer months of the year, which then leads to us having very extended periods of time where it's raining a little bit every day for weeks & weeks. But since our annual rainfall isn't actually that high, it never really rains like it does in other parts of the country. It's more like a constant drizzle. It really isn't that bad, if you ask me. Sure as hell beats full on winters like I grew up with in the Midwest. Average "winter" (i.e. "rainy season") temps here are in the 40s, and when I want to shred the gnar on my snowboard, I can drive to the Cascades for crazy powder dumps.

Yeah, people hate on Seattle for its weather, but I kind of like it. Plus, it's a pretty kick ass city for all sorts of other reasons. We are the most educated city in the country, there is lots of stuff to do on a day to day basis, it's insanely beautiful, and the automotive & motorsport scene is incredible (and growing). I kind of think we're becoming somewhat of a Motorsport mecca in the US.

Try driving a car with broken power steering, after you fix it it feels way too soft and you wish a manual rack was available for cheaps .

No, seriously though, what's the job market like? Is there much going on in the tech/web industry over there?

In Seattle? You shouldn't have to ask that question

You might try Redmond, I hear there's some company over there that has something to do with tech.
