Crap...the reason I left my local bank is because they had no online banking and my ATM/debit card was hacked like 4 times in two years. And this was after my 3 other Boston banks had been purchased.

Maybe I'll just go back to storing my $$ in my mattress

Yep, Peter...PM with your #, and we can catch up. Too bad my used Bilstein Sports won't fit your car, you could have those too!

The 210m UDAP fine was CapOne, the 619m OFAC fine was ING. You can find the ING fine on Treasury Depts website or just google ING enforcement action. Lots of big banks have been hit with enormous fines for OFAC sanctions violations, HSBC may be getting a fine of over 1bil soon, StanChart just about lost their banking charter and took down D&T auditing with them and will be staring down some huge fines.

I just downloaded a PDF outlining to procedures required by the NTSHA to import a vehicle from the Canada to the US, and almost made my brain explode.

synopsis, BMW NA must make a notarized letter stating the vehicle desired for import can be made US compliant or already is. Then you must contract a Registered Importer to bond the car for 150% of it's current valuation, then you must fill out an application for import and have the vehicle inspected by US border protection and blessed off on. In short, for the same money i'd pay to import an E36 touring I could buy a newer 3 series touring for much less headache.

I know... 150% of lets say 3,000 dollars canadian is a lot, plus having to pay the taxes to bring it here, plus actually buying the car and making which ever modifications it requires to be used in the US. DAMN YOU AMERICA

I can imagine getting massively screwed by any one of the 10 agencies you'd have to jump hoops through for. Risky business, and I dont think its uncommon for people to import cars here only to find out they can never register it here for road use

the killer is that all BMW E36's that span it's generation are on the damn "approved" list for meeting canadian guidelines but you still have to go through the formalities. It's sad when it would be cheaper to move to Canada, sell my 328i for far more than it's worth in the US, buy a 325 touring and mod it and just live near the coast and make day trips to the US.

coulnt get the stupid vacuum system to move the actuators so i just found them and did it by hand

i can do the rear one without jackign the car up. The center i may be able to reach once i get my lift springs in it.

oh did i mention I have lift springs coming for it?

Audi Coupe quattro S2 srpings lift the stock car about 1.5 inches, since my car has 2 inch drop springs in it, that should be roughly 3.5 inches of lift. And all for $Free.99 no one wants stock springs

The stockies should hold up for now, im sure they arent much good ATM from being beaten on via rally with drop springs in them but they will do for now.

stock springs are ok to run with this set up, alot of guys just pop in bilstien HD's and call it a day. But this is a very "budget" friendly build

alright guys, quick question. I lost one of my sway bar links. I dont know how or what happend, but its throwing my alignment off... Do you guys think it'll mess up the handling if i remove the whole front sway bar for now? I looked up how SOME people remove the Rear Sway bar but no info on the front.

Won't hurt anything if you remove it altogether - just won't corner worth a damn, but that's it.

I don't think that matters on Jorge's car, it just means it will hit the curb a little quicker than usual......

So I was just looking through my maintenance log for the E36. In the last 12 months, I've driven 4,360 miles. My current combined average fuel economy is currently at 25mpg (which is where it usually is - yes, I drive like an old fart most of the time), which boils down to 174.4 gallons of fuel consumed. If I use the current approximate price of premium fuel here, which is around $4.30/gal, that comes down to $749.52 spent in gas for the year, which is about $2 per day. Not bad... The actual amount of money I spent on gas is considerably less, since the average cost of a gallon of premium fuel has been creeping up for the last year, so $4.30/gal is somewhat of a high figure to use as the basis for that calculation. Anyway, sorry for nerding out. Sometimes it's fun to run all the numbers.

So that's how Karl keeps his car so mint... ...he hardly drives it!

Do you use other modes of transportation to get to work?

I hit about 12k miles in my first year.

Yeah I totally missed that post Karl... I am on track to have put about 11,000 miles on the 328 once I own it for a year. I've already put 3,500 on the subaru and I've only owned that 3 months (so about 12,000 a year).

like whoa. you really don't drive huh? I enjoy driving, but not sitting in traffic.
