You hadn't completely lost me at the idea of a swoopy, sexy, smaller Gran Coupe, but a hatch-butt is a terrible idea.

I love the way the 6GC turned out, I'm not gonna lie, but I think part of its beauty is in its size. Translating that design to smaller proportions I think would just make it look funny. There's a lot going on with the 6GC design and you'd either make the 4 look squished or leave out some of what makes it look so damn hot.

Besides, the whole idea pisses me off: let's ditch the heritage of the 3 series and call all the 2 door models 4 series and leave just the 4 doors as 3 series.....ha! Got ya! Just kidding, we're actually going to have two 4 door 4 series models too, just to make it completely illogical.

Yeah, I like the 6GC, just wish it was something other than a 6-Series. Doesn't mean it isn't a cool car, though.

I lost my faith in BMW a while ago, however. They're all about financial world domination now, rather than putting driver excitement at the top of their list of priorities.

Welcome. I think it's documented what I did when I was rear ended in my E34 many moons ago, but it's basically the above. I actually spent the day before my appointment with the adjuster polishing and waxing the car, and I think it helped. I paid $2000 for the car and received $5700 from insurance, less $400 buyback, and then sold the car as is for $1800. Also sold the wheels for a good amount, and received $1200 for the BI claim. These things can absolutely work in your favor.

One thing I did was called the at-fault party's insurance and opened a property and BI claim with them, and then called my insurance and did the same. I let them both send adjusters and make me offers, and actually got a much better deal from the at-fault's than mine. Remember, you were the one who was wronged, don't feel guilty for making the situation work to your favor.

Insurance claims vary wildly. For the situation above, it took over a month. I don't think AAA much cared for putting me up in a full size rental for that long either, which drove their offer. They were very easy to negotiate the price up. When I was hit in another car, much less severe, they sent an adjuster out within a week and he cut me a check on the spot. Both of them I held the BI claims open for over 12 months.
It's just seems odd....you actually get penalized if your car is in pristine condition. But you make a good point about opening cases with both insurance companies to see who gives me the best deal.

I didn't know that it lit up for at least a solid year. Then one time at night I was reaching around in the dark for the headlight switch, thinking to myself that it had to be illuminated. I looked it up, and sure enough, it had a bulb! Replaced the burned out bulb and I was back in bid'ness.

I LOVE the way Cadillac is moving upwards (minus that the stopgap XTS is wrong wheel drive, but much much much much much better than the DTS, barf)

ATS is lightest in class, that makes it a winner in my book. Next Camaro will share the same platform IIRC.

Has a very good powertrain IMO, turbo 4 with good mileage and power, and a 321hp V6. RWD, AWD, stick, and auto. Slick interior, and good looking on the outside too.

Makes the new 3 series look even worse.

I can tell you why.....this discussion gave me a fun idea: Call my local dealer and find out what they would charge.

$167

Let that digest. $167. Yes, really.

I asked him a few times after the price quote if they couldn't just replace a bulb and he said its all a single unit and the bulb was not replaceable. $70-something + tax for the switch assembly and 1/2hr labor at $176/hr.

I just laughed. A lot. Makes sense why none of these work though.

And that is a huge part of why BMW's have such a reputation for being expensive to own. The "stealer" nickname isn't a joke. The bulb is less than $2 and it takes no more than five minutes to replace it.

Yep. The amazing thing is they wouldn't be able to charge these prices if people didn't pay them.......who the hell is dumb enough to pay that? It boggles my mind.

And pleasure talking to you earlier, sir.
