It was probably the best jack I've used until it blew. I'll admit some fault, it's only a 3000# aluminum jack and I've used it extensively on both the Range Rover and Discovery under the diff to lift a whole end. That still shouldn't have been too much but it was pushing it being a cheap jack. Being a rapid pump unit probably put extra stress on the seals too. It failed lifting the Disco.

Yep, standard 3M mat. I just saw the roller in Eds videos.....I think that's the problem. I'm doing everything else the same as the videos and I'm laying down a good coat of resin first, but then I've been trying to paint the resin on top with my brush and the fibers all just pull away. That also is probably why my resin isn't going very far.

I'm not using a mold at all, its for the sole of the boat. I replaced a section of flooring and am trying to glass back over the top of it so its just going right on top.

Chad, since it's for the boat, just look on Youtube, there are thousands of Fibreglass DIY's specifically for boat repair.

A thought:

Maybe total it, then buy it back. You can leave in in your driveway or what have you until you decide if you want to fix it, or buy something new. You can always buy something and then if you don't like your decision fix up the wagon later.

Ryan, downpipe on the 06 WRX went uber smooth. Sounds WAY better and stage 2 is a huge increase over stage one. It's got to be about stock STI power now.

One problem, it's overboosting now lol.

Made this video a while ago and forgot to post it. This is coolant fleeing the E36 while idling. Didn't do this when I bought it since apparently it was out of coolant then or something.

Just for your enjoyment at my predicament.

yeah the downpipe is a huge upgrade on these cars, the cats in there are crazy restrictive. Did he change the upipe too? That's another cheap mod that will let you build boost a bit earlier. With the upipe, downpipe, and 3" catless turbo back I'm building good boost by 2700 rpm

Does he have an intake on it? Stage 2 is good for 280bhp (at least on the 02-03 wrx), so that's right in STI territory

In this case, mix the resin, pour it onto the mat and then use the roller to work it in. Cloth is easier to work with than the mat but it's a bit more expensive.

No up pipe. Why does it need to spool earlier? They are already instant lol.

Cobb intake, he says it should be 235 or so whp. Sound right?

I was. Thinking of getting ARP head studs just incase I want to slap a turbo on my car later, ECS charges $200 for a set, how are they 12 times as much as oem?.

ARP is the shiz, that's how - they make fasteners for everything from top fuel drag cars to F1 cars. There isn't a single bolt or nut on my 462 that isn't ARP. Best stuff in the industry, hands down.

yeah they do spool very nicely lol

WHP is always really questionable, all depends on the dyno and who you talk to.. I'd say its anywhere between 230-240whp. Anything more than that and he best start saving up for either some PPG gears or another trans (6 speed swap FTW).

I know they make good stuff, but a) I don't have $200 to drop on head studs this go round, b) Even if I did that seams like an insane price, and c) I hope they go belly up because of their unusable website, I was hoping they would have a better price than ECS, but they don't have a simple search by year/ make/ model, instead you have to download their bs catalog (which isn't viewable on an iPad because apple is dumb) and I couldn't get to work on my droid phone either because I couldn't scroll around the page when it's zoomed in. So I'm downloading it to my phoneso that I can move it to my pc at home and hopefully read their catalog.

I'm sure that somewhere out there there are some old people who love it because it's like a real catalog, but as for me and I assume 97% of modern Internet users I think they should just have their catalog in HTML format with a search function like every other online retailer.

Get it from a BMW website, not ARP.

Racersmarket.net

That's them, but $170 is still a little rich for my blood right now, I still need to get piston rings and a clutch kit before the engine can go back in .

But on the other hand not doing them now will mean replacing the hg again when I do, which will be an other $160... Damnit, I don't know what to do.

Do it once, do it right; cheapest way. (Or as my father used to say all the time, "There's never enough time or money to do it right, but always enough to do it over when it's wrong".)

Ace, OSH, and Home Depot didn't have a roller. Ended up picking up a high density foam paint roller and using that. It worked better than the brush but not great. I still can't believe I went through 2 - 32oz containers of resin for 2 layers of 8sqft of mat and still didn't get the kind of coverage I wanted. Just doesn't seem right.

If I end up picking up another motor for it, come help me do the swap and it's all yours..... Was planning to have it media blasted and make it into a coffee table, Brittany squashed that dream pretty quick.

Randies have gotten unbelievably big....and fast. Blink and they're gone. Doesn't seem real.
