Thanks Ken. Now I understand why BMW enthusiasts call the inline 6 'silky smooth'. This car can handle twisties at high speed, smooth power application on the highway, and blow your hair back when you mash the pedal (ask CJ ). And with the 6th gear on the highway, at speed it's actually pulling fewer RPMs than my 325 (and about the same MPG).

The only downside is that at highway speed, it's noisy. I think it's mostly due to the 19" wheels (which, now that I at the pics, may be underinflated). Oh, and application/release of the clutch is somewhat noisy. Hopefully CJ is mistaken that the throwout bearing needs replaced. But if it does, I am certainly going to use the 3k mile, 3 month dealer warranty to get it repaired.

I am so glad I moved up to the M3. I love, love, love it

Looks amazing, you better get some clear bra on the nose and behind the wheels to protect it from winter driving. It will get destroyed

Yeah its in the engine still.

That exact bolt from that thread I wouldn't even know where to start looking it (besides the vanos durr)

On that thought
Yay or nay: start ripping apart extra known working m50 and sell it in pieces or continue trying to push to sell it as a whole

not sure, i would hate to tear apart a motor...unless it's not running, but let me check the spare head i have....not sure where this bolt is.....i *might* have one...

just was curious if you guys had spare parts around. i think matt had whole m52's, which he sold, which is why i dropped your names...

well, hold onto that thought....apparently this is a dual vanos e39, not an e36.....different set up. so, no parts are needed from you at this point.

i would buy your motor if i were closer....

It's gorgeous Jen! Isn't it a BMW CPO? I was thinking you were buying from a BMW Stealership.......
CPO warranty is 4 years, 60K miles from the original purchase date as a CPO. That was one of the deal closers when we bought the wife's E46. Even though we bought from a Nissan dealer, the previous owner had bought it as a CPO and once it has that designation the warranty carries regardless of change of ownership.

Porsche crowd was back at our local C&C meet this morning but there was a little bit of BMW representation, me and a couple of Mini's.
Two 914's today, the bronze one is a 1.8L and the yellow is what's now a fairly rare 2.0L 6 cylinder. Nice GT40 kit car. Older couple owners just recently bought it and still learning to drive it (and get in and out of it). The parking it and getting in and out was a pretty good show.
Thinking about an LS7 for an E36 engine swap.....
