Agreed. American automakers really have made drastic steps in terms of quality and performance with their cars. Unfortunately, their trucks have began slipping. Especially the diesel ones. Cow piss injected in the exhaust to reduce emissions? No thank you...

Joe, you should approach the owner and ask what happened. See if you can't get them to slip up (not that it matters now from a legal perspective) and say something

And Jen I want a e36 M3 in an interesting color (not white,black,Boston,or silver) for around the 6-8k mark. Millage isn't a biggie, just want a clean car.

But I can't really look at it unless its a stealership until I ditch the e39 in the spring.

Were they blind? That's like 7 shades darker than the rest of the car. I cant believe a shop would offer it to a customer like that, and I can't believe any customer actually accept it.

Joe....at that price, you're going to want a private party sale. At least there is a slight chance you'll get something that isn't beaten to death. 4 doors or 2?

You should try selling your e39 here in Boston. It would go in a heartbeat, I think....maybe list it here on CL and offer to show it on the weekends?

yeah it does i restarted it and it was fine. it was only the 1st start of the day (morning)

it does this randomly idk why.


since the weather has gone done the car chokes during warm up and eventually stalls but it drives perfectly fine.


but during the summer it doesnt do it

And official update: New engine is in and mounted, all of driveline is in, some of exhaust is in. Still have a good deal of work but I'm thrilled with the process for A day.

ACT 120 is the police academy. Trying to get in by January.

Nice work on the engine swap! They take way longer than what people would think. Little stupid things like frozen exhaust bolts and stuck connectors really take up time.

DF, I have an entire M52 parts motor, torn apart. Send me PM of what you need with a pic, maybe i has?



Its really not that bad. When I pulled the parts motor apart, I set the timing at TDC and started unbolting the lobes that had no tension on them. Rotated slowly, and repeated until everything was unbolted. A bit nerve-racking at times, but the cams are straight and not broken.

Gold Rush is the shiz!

You don't even have to rotate the cams, just remove the loose ones first, then the tight ones. No snappage here.

They do look very nice I think, but it is a direct rip off IMO. The sad thing is their whole lineup is going to have that look now.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure pretty much all the diesels in the US now have that injector, whether it be a truck or not.
