Dunno. This new Viper's interior is supposed to be the bee's knees. Seats from the same supplier as Ferrari, etc.



But in order to use HIDs (and not blind people), he'd also have to buy projector headlight assemblies.

I would assume there will be a ZR1 since there us now. New Z06 will probably at least perform very close to it I would assume.


I needed lights in my truck so I got 35 dollar 55w hids from Ebay we'll see how they work.

I dunno. I'm thinking Chevrolet may not build a ZR1 version of the C7, or if they do, it certainly won't be for many many years. All I'm saying is that it's going to take more than a warmed over Corvette (capable though they may be) to beat a car with 640hp and a significantly better power/weight ratio than either the current ZR1 or the Porsche 911 Turbo.

If you don't flash too much then it should be fine.
I use them all the time for flashing though, and not too often to actually drive

Unless you have projectors, you can't do that. Especially in a truck, it completely f*cks everyone else over whether you're behind them or oncoming. Be courteous to the rest of the drivers and don't do it man.

I'd wager a ZR1 version of the C7 is already in the works. They can't let Dodge/SRT/whatever the heck they call themselves this week get ahead without responding.

If I didn't have a blown HG to deal with I'd be nagging the crap out of you to give me first right of refusal if/when you do sell it. I've always wanted a Sporty Shorty but I don't want to deal with a needy car that gets 17mpg while I'm trying to rebuild an E36.

I'd take a guess the next Z06 55O or so HP. What does the new viper weigh?

Why not look into LEDs for the High beams. Do you know what LEDs can do with 55W of power? And they'll be glad to switch on and off to your heart's content for flashing.

With the track package, the new Viper weighs 3,247lbs. For reference, the current ZR1 weighs 3333lbs, and the Z06 weighs 3175lbs, but is way down on power in comparison.

My beef with US engines is their pale power to displacement numbers. Look at the CTS-V: 6.2L V8 (massive...) at only 556 hp. Couldn't get your 'performance sedan' engine over 100hp/L?

I'd say around a track the Current ZR1 is still close to the viper but I haven't seen them race together.

At the end of the day though, I don't really care about this. Our engines are more powerful, often lighter weight, more efficient, less complex, more reliable, cheaper to mod, and easier to maintain than anything coming out of Europe. Producing an engine with a high specific output means nothing to me if the net result is an inferior product. There's nothing cool about having a gazillion valves per cylinder and timing chains everywhere if it doesn't provide any useful benefit.

Exactly. LS motors don't make high HP per liter, but they are about the prefect engine.

I love M50 based motors too.

Yeah, they're both great presenters.

Tiff is good, but try as he might, Fifth Gear is still like Top Gear with 90% of the fun drained out of it.

I certainly agree with that. I'll still watch Fifth Gear because Tiff is oldschool and awesome, but the show's platform is nowhere near as fun as Top Gear.

2000 525i for sale with no reverse on tranny. $1900, can get a used trans for $600. I'm SO tempted but I really don't need another project right now.

Talk some sense into me.
