I'd love to go pre-law once i complete my degree... but that seems like far too much work and i hate public speaking. and the public.

in other news, my clutch is getting fairly close to the end of it's life, no slipping yet, but the engagement point is so small it may as well just be all the way up

Amen. There's no reason to use the controversial name.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! On this 3rd day of December in the 2012 year of our Lord, Chad hath decreed that the Guibo/Giubo/Gweebo/Gweebough/Flexdiskpuckthingwithholes shall be henceforth referred to ask an Ignoramus. Persons defying the decree shall be subject to public flamings and floggings.

You guys are going to kill me but I'm seriously considering picking up another Saab.

In the interest of sanity and financial responsibility I know I should focus on getting a turn-key, cheap to own, cheap to fix daily driver. But something like a TL, TSX or Accord would be such a dull, sterile driving experience, and something like a WRX or Mazda3 would be like driving a tin can with doors.

I still like Audis but someone finally talked me out of the 1.8T because they are so complicated and so wimpy in stock form anyway. I'll think about an E46 but I already have a 3.0L RWD manual trans BMW, and buying a second would seem redundant. I've grown to like Mercedes more and more, but the ones I want I can't afford and the ones I can afford I don't want.

HOWEVER, the 05-07 Saab 9-3 Aero 2.8t checks all the boxes. In the right price range, well optioned, 250hp, 6spd manual, 27mpq. So far as I can tell, its more reliable than something from VAG, and no worse than a bimmer. As DF mentioned the timing belt service is a big pain in the ass, but you can plan for those. There is a black one about an hour from me, if its still there this weekend I'm going to go test drive it.

EDIT:

Yes, but you're right, I don't expect my rate to be anything close to that, but my friend just refinanced her 2006 330i (with like a $17k balance) with them for 1.49%, so the rate on a $9-10k loan should be fair.

Joey, why not the 9-3 with the turbo 4 cylinder? The 2.8 will get worse mileage, and the 2.8 has more power than your car! lol

I drove the 4 cylinder years ago and loved it, would be a very nice DD IMO.

Finally did some work to the 328, pulled the headliner out. I'm going to wrap it in suede and put it in my red car, and put the red car's headliner in the 328.

Going to get some glue and re adhere the door panels as well.

And it doesn't really matter if you're paying it off each month, right? Other terms are more important.

Hm, that's odd.

I won't be paying it off each month, I would like to, but I'm sure there will be times when I make bigger purchases with it that I won't want to pay right away.

Thanks Ed, that worked.

Matt, I like those, they're sharp. 20" seems a little big for a 400 chassis though, no? Do you have any pics of them on a vehicle?

20% is high but about average for a starter card. I would just pay it off each month and pretend you don't have any credit capabilities until you can get another card with more favorable terms. But then if you've had car loans you may qualify for something better. No way of knowing for sure.

I started out in college pre-law. Decided I enjoyed creating things more than arguing and switched to engineering. Zero regrets. Confirmed everyday when my wife (she's a paralegal) gets home.

Thanks Chad. Should I apply for other ones? I don't want to hurt my credit.

I LOVE those wheels. I'd keep em if I had something to put them on. One of my favorite OEM wheels.

They come on the new ltz trucks. Google something like 09 LTZ Silverado.

I believe a paralegal does a lawyer's light work like dealing indirectly with clients and sorting and filing paperwork

Ok yeah I've seen those then. I do like them a lot but I think 20s will look a bit silly on the 400.

Pick one to apply for first. Your credit will take a ding both from the inquiry and from it decreasing your average account age significantly. Wait a bit before applying for the next one.

20% ish is high but pretty normal. If you don't pay it off each month calculate the amount of interest you pay for that item and decide if its worth it.
Credit cards are best when used for emergency cash than used as a loan to float a hobby.

I use mine to pay a lot of my month bills with auto pay. Then I pay the card in full. Get the 1% cash back and smile.
