Yea the turbo models are later. Electrical being mostly iDrive related. Anecdotal evidence is all I have so maybe they're fine.

I never get sick. It's awesome except I get terrible springtime allergies.

Joey, here's my thoughts:

Get the cheapest car with an acceptable interior, exterior, and gas mileage.

Who cars what it drives like, right? It's just to get to and from work.

I'd take a common cold for a few days over a month of day in day out allergies any time.

In other news, experts weigh in on the E30 vs. E36 vs. E46 M3 for motorsports. Old article, but still worth a read (for someone like me, I suppose...).

http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/articles/m-pressive/

Good read, but the E30 M3 is a "boy racer" car?? Sheesh.

What about an early build E60? I know they're not the prettiest things out there, but you could get a 6 cylinder with a manual if you wanted or steptronic, get good gas mileage, get a non turbo so it's reliable, and have a comfortable Highway Cruiser thats newer and has a nice interior for a great price.

Oh hell no. I'd every time I saw it, getting stuck behind one in traffic is bad enough.

Very good points. I just need to go drive what's on my list and go from there, when I get it honed down to a few models I can dive into doing my own reliability research. The knobs on my club forum are being about as helpful as a hole in my head.

Honestly from the back they're not too bad, it's the front that I hate. That said, I'd daily one over a TL or Golf any day.

What about an E39 530i sport? The M54B30 is a solid engine in the 5 and it's plenty quick to get out if it's own way, plus it has the rack and pinion so it's much more fun to handle than the V8s. If you want to row your own in traffic get the manual for sure, if you're needing an auto budget a torque converter replacement at some point.

Meh. I'd rather be in a not-hideous TL or Golf with lower ownership costs than an E60 with a face only a mother could love and BMW parts prices.

I'd buy an E39 but thanks to my GF I basically already have one. Spending $7k on another would feel redundant. An E46 is a very real option. As absurd as it sounds that's kind of my fallback. I know I could get a 330i sport for $7-8k with reasonable mileage, and I know them like the back of my hand. I just like the idea of doing something different (I owned my E46 for almost a year) and non-RWD so we have something a little more surefooted in bad weather without having to worry about swapping to winter tires.

(I know that RWD with Snows > FWD without, but FWD with All Seasons > RWD with All Seasons)

Patrick, on a serious note, if you come to wits end, just get her a day at her favourite spa. Or a weekend somewhere for the three of you.

Quite different. The M60B30 had all the drawbacks of a BMW V8 with none of the power benefits. I didn't care for it in my E34. Don't forget I also had an E39 530 and found it to be much quicker than I expected, got good mileage, and had the benefit of much better handling. For daily use, I'd get another onewithout a thought.

Well of the three, it does have pretty outlandish fender flares and a goofy decklid with a wing.

Paging Chad:
Doing my Refinance paperwork, and the new company insists that my insurance be paid through an escrow account... But I haven't gotten a straight answer about how they plan on doing this since 1) Master policy is held through Condo Association and paid through condo dues 2) my walls-in coverage is paid for 1 year at one since I get a discount that way.
ever hear of this?

Very common. Your escrow account will only pay once a year anyway so that's fine. They'll need a copy of your HOA's master insurance policy to satisfy the investor reqs and will take care of your walls-in policy payment annually. Aside from you providing proof of insurance for the HOA master showing that it covers dwellings in the PUD they won't do anything else on that.

Just heard back from the loan rep too... almost at the same time. Freaky.

I guess I have to increase my H06 policy. Guess I don't have enough coverage to meet this investors requirements. Thats what didn't make sense to me.

What is their requirement? And is this a conventional Fannie loan?

Nope. Its considered an investment property refi since I don't live their anymore. Not a great rate by any means, but still better than before.
I'm getting out of an FHA ****** This loan will be sold to a private investor, same with my current house loan. Fannie isn't offering anything great.
The H06 is required to carry a minimum of 20% of the value. The value has increase by about 125k since I bought it.... and I haven't really updated the policy much. I just keep renewing it and the cost has only got up a few dollars since.

The HOA master has increased a lot. And I sure as hell hope that meets their requirements. We had to increase the policy when a unit sold 3 months ago. Cost is killing us because the monthly dues can't increase until July 2013.
