Jesse, did you ever get around to talking to a lawyer about that incident? You may have a claim to have the club pay your bills. IANAL.

No I didn't. Im not sure how I feel about them paying for it since it was my decision to be a "good" citizen. Im just going to pay it I suppose. Plus Id have to pay a lawyer too.

You should be able to get a free consultation. That aside, businesses are far better able to afford incidental costs such as this. Things like this are why businesses carry insurance. Don't pay for something that you shouldn't have to and can't (really) afford if you've an option.

Like I said above though, a consultation to see if you even have a case at all should be free. Talk to a lawyer and take it from there.

Fun morning. Apparently jumping the e36 was too much for the E38s battery. dead as a doornail this morning when Brittany went to leave. Jumping it makes me miss my train, so now I'm driving the Disco to work. Driving this morning reminds me why I like the train so much.

Just watched a Grand Cherokee nearly nail the back of a pickup truck, its front bumper was literally OVER the tow hitch on the pick up.

Wow, that's insane. Out here it's a correctable ticket, which means you just go down and pay a 25 dollar administrative fee and have a cop sign off that you put your from plate back on. Then you take it back off again when you get home.

Alan, thanks for all the great info. I'll definitely ask them about that. I didn't even know there were different types of slab foundations.........

Now, that being said, I have drilled post tension slabs before, and you can feel where the cables are if you do hit one, but its not a risk that I like taking. If I had to guess, the houses around there are probably all post tension. Let me know who the concrete contractor is if you can find out. Also, the thing that I don't like about post tension slabs is that there is very little concrete anchoring the house to the ground. If you are on an incline or in a flood plane, it would be extremely easy to wash the dirt from under the house. Post tension slabs are very useful in places with unstable soils and high earthquake danger since the slab will tend to isolate the house structure from the earth that it sits on...
You definitely want to consult a local expert. The stress in the cables is over 20,000 psi. The holes shouldn't be a problem for the moment being applied, but you definitely want to avoid hitting a tendon.

Dude how was the Altamont today? I got up early (5:30) and saw on the news there was already a wreck there causing a back up. Crazy drivers!

Actually, get this! Altamont was completely smooth sailing, 580 was predictably slow, but actually better than usual, 238 was a little heavier than usual, and I've seen MORE traffic on 880 south at 3am than right now, it was like a ghost town.

Total drive time today was only about 75 minutes for 50 miles, I couldn't believe it!

Exactly. Look at what the WRC guys run in dirt/mud: skinny tires with deep tread. You want to punch down into the dirt, not skid across it. The big tires would be fine on a hard surface, but they act like skis on the loose stuff.

Two words: contingent fee. You pay nothing if they don't win your case, and their fee comes out of the proceeds if you do. I think you definitely have a case (but I'm not a lawyer, nor do I play one on TV ) The club should pay your medical expenses.

There weren't overly wide, just too tall, killed the gearing, couldn't put power down to slide the car around like I wanted too

And just how much money have you won so far from rallying?

I think profit may be the wrong word there for a $1200 loss, skippy.
