The official E36 OT Thread!!

Yeah, I think I might make the switch then. One foreseeable issue for me is that I like to drink two cups in the morning before work while I wake up and ease myself into the new day. I'm concerned that if I brew two cups in a french press, by the time I go back for the second cup it will have cooled off significantly, since it won't be kept warm by a burner (as with a drip machine).

That's way too much work for coffee on a daily basis. We actually just got a new machine that came with a pot as well as two insulated travel mugs. It's designed so you can put both mugs under it instead of the pot and have it ready to go.

My coffee automatically starts brewing when I'm getting ready and I grab it already in the mug for me in the way it the door.

And Karl that might be a problem. it will cool off. drink the first quickly!

Maybe I could just brew enough for two cups worth in the french press, and then pour all of it into an insulated mug which is large enough to hold all of it. Would be kinda annoying to be drinking out of a small thermos though...

French press people, how do you keep your coffee hot? Seems like there is no way around it cooling off, unless you use some sort of complicated hot plate process (not worth it). Does anyone make insulated french presses?

Edit: yes they do... doing research now...

Hmm....that steering wheel is tempting. Could use it if/when the ZCP wheel's alcantra goes bad and/or I decide I really miss cruise control. Hmm decisions decisions.

Let me know, I can forward your info to my buddy, he's working at a race shop while he's in school so this stuff is coming out of a customer's car, not sure how many miles are on it but it looks like its in good condition, I do see the faintest mark on the lower trim, but that stuff will scratch if you look at it wrong.

Here is the insulated french press I may buy. Claims to keep coffee hot for two hours, which is far longer than I would need.

Karl, I still say for the best coffee ever, get one of these. I still say this and I own a french press (Bodum). I've got the stainless carafe and it works damn well to keep my coffee hot.
This is the actual one I've got.

Yes, but for incredible coffee every day I say it's worth it. Especially since my roommate paid for it

That's how I feel at this very moment, my back hurts, stuffy nose, fevers and burning chest...

I might get this single cup french press mug.

this is how i know i am on the mend...all of this coffee talk is making me want to go get some!!!

had a cheap french press, whick made a decent cup of coffee for me, but was simply just way too much work for me. now i have a keurig. i love it.

if i want anything else more exotic, i'll go to the cafe downtown and get an espresso.

So we have Jen, DF, Brad, and Jared all miserably sick, as well as a few of Brittany's friends. Ugh, this is shaping up to look like a lousy flu season. I'm about to go all bubble boy status here.
