I can use it as a $80 credit towards a new Escort, but it's still $330 for a new X50 or $5xx for a Redline. Don't really want to do that. However, I found a 2-year old V1 locally for $220. They are the cream of the crop, apparently. Not as many features as say, a Passport 9800ix (such as GPS), but better as far as range and detection. I think I'm gonna go with the V1.
If you are thinking about the Redline detector why not get this. Personally if I was getting a radar detector I would only look at the GPS discussed ones because I do not want to catch any sh!t form the cops if I get pulled over.

Yeah, it's nice but in most cases you can yank it down if you get pulled.

Or if it's properly concealed in the first place you don't need to pull it down.

But cops are not that stupid and he would probably notice it where ever you yank it too. Also I do not know about you but I am worse than James May at finding way around, so the GPS part would be nice.

i thought it said something different, i read it wrong. 3400 seems much more realistic that's still astonishing though that something can make that much power. i mean just think of what that engine could move...

Yeah but, a Caterham Superlight R500 with a mere 263hp and 177 lbsft will kick that truck's ass in a race.

It seems pretty impossible to conceal it without losing LIDAR reception strength. And I'm pretty sure they use a decent amount of laser in NY.

All NY highway state troopers I've passed in the last several years have run around with Ka band on all the time. Yes I lose some Lidar coverage, but *knock on wood* haven't yet not had enough notice.

YMMV, but factor in these:
-I've not had a ticket in years.
-I tend to do the speed limit twice per trip, while accelerating, and just before I get there.

I just caught a whiff of antifreeze sitting in my morning staff meeting at work.

I need to fix this effing headgasket like woah, I think I'm killing brain cells.

I'm not sure there is a more unsettling smell than Antifreeze.

you and me both... iirc yours is leaking at the same spot mine is. I;m still debating if I have the time do it myself. If I do it, I know the car will be down for the better part of 2 weeks, if everything goes well and the baby cooperates. I'd have to borrow a car from my parents or something, because I can't be without a car. That would quite a hassle.
If I pay the shop to do it, it'll be like a grand in labor plus parts. Was going to replace lots of stuff.

What I think will happen, is that I will pay the shop to replace the HG, and machine the head. Probably hafta wait to replace the water pump, and rad for money reasons.

I haven't exactly been babying my car lately either.

Yeah, I'm taking comfort in the knowledge that if sh1t truly hits the fan, I can get my hands on a remanned head and send mine back as a core, call everyone I know and bust out the job in a weekend. Ideally I'll get myself into a DD here soon and then I can take my sweet sweet time working on the M3.

but yea they did a great job, they were using tractors. Also the whole way home last night all I heard was scraping noises as I plowed the road with my bumper and sway bar haha. And this morning on the way to work it sounded like I was running over animals and there heads were hitting my sway bar. There were so many little ice balls in the road that were small enough to miss my bumper but drill my sway bar.

I don't think I can. To not feel like a jerk, I'd have to tell who ever buys it about the leaking HG. An E36 needing a HG with 157k miles isn't worth a whole lot... less than I paid. That's for sure.

I was looking into buying an X5, taking the 328 off the road, and taking my time doing the HG. But, not really sure I need another car. Or another project.

At least mine is leaking outside too...

Last snow storm that I had when I lived in DC, My wife had an 05 Matrix. Those darn ice balls destroyed the front bumped, fog lights, and heat shields under the car. I was none to happy... so I traded it in, and got a Nissan Rogue
