Lulz, she's actually almost 3 years older than me. The gap doesn't seem quite as large now, I'm 22 and she's 25, but when we first met it seemed huuuuuuge. I was 19 and she was 22. Everyone called her a cradle robber that first year.

^ He looks resigned to his fate.

UPDATE: Just got a call from the surgeon. Kittay is alive and well, currently sleeping off the drugs under a heat tent. She said the cyst was tricky to remove because it had ruptured, but she got it out whole without puncturing it so she feels confident it won't come back. She described the teeth as "a bit of a fight" but she said she got them out and she's recovering well.

We'll pick her up around 7 tonight, sporting a Cone of Shame and some liquid pain meds to keep her mind off of her missing teeth for the next few days. They used internal sutures and surgical glue so we wont have to fuss around with removing stitches, so all we'll have to do is take her back in 2 weeks for a follow up to make sure the incision is healing properly.

On a serious note you guys are totally f*cking awesome. I'm a worrier by nature and this was my first experience as the "dad" where its up to me to make the judgement calls and foot the bill. I've been freaked out for the last 48 hours. It had changed shape and color so quickly I was worried it was cancerous and I'm stupidly attached to that little cat. You guys really lifted my spirits today sharing all your pet pictures and stories while she was under the knife.

Thanks.

This is Katy, my friend Karen's Aussie...on a trip to Acadia two years ago. I stayed with Karen for months after my last big surgery (I couldn't move around much and the house was torn up). And after living with her, Katy may have made me like Aussies more than Germies. I cannot WAIT until the house renovations are done later this year so I can get a dog!

Joey, glad to hear your baby is doing better! And you're doing great too

Haha, one of many names. We were planning on renaming her "Ollie" before we adopted her, but when we drove to her previous human's house she explained her backstory. Her previous person was a vet, and she said she was working one day and someone brought her in as a kitten and wanted to have her euthanized. No reason, just didn't want her and I guess didn't feel like taking her to an adoption place or something.

Anyway, the vet said "oh f*ck no" and just took the kitten and kept her. On the paperwork that asshole had written down the name "Jelly Bean," which the vet shortened to "Bean." For the first 3 years of her life she was a "vet cat" and lived in the office, which I think is what makes her so sociable. Then they moved locations so Melanie took her home. Then she and her boyfriend decided to move in together, and he is like dramatically allergic to cats, so she had to give her up.

Once we heard that story we threw out the idea of changing her name and kept Bean, because 1.) its a cat named Bean, and 2.) its a pretty good story.

Still, she's usually referred to as "kitty" or "stupid"

Gah! For the past 3 years I have worked for a different company every year because a recruiter has called and wanted to talk. Talking is a slippery slope... So after 1 interview I normally get the job and I take it because it pays better.
Well, a recruiter called today- I told him I wasn't really interested, and wanted to stay with my current company. I'm rather happy here, and its nice to not switch to often.
Then drops a bomb on me and tells me what the starting salary would be. I make good money, lets say $$, and this job pays $$$$.... Its hard to not keep listening. I heard the pitch, and the job actually sounds interesting.
I asked how many other people he was going after, none he replies... I haven't had that one before. Normally they seek other people too.

I also asked how he got my name, turns out this recruiter had spoken to a former boss of my mine from 3 years ago, who gave him my name. He looked me up on LinkedIn and thought I was good match.

Oh geez... I wonder what will come of all of this. I sorta don't want it to work, but I sorta do.

This thread does make me miss our cat.

Then, I get home and think about how litter isn't scattered around the box and smile, and all is well again.

When my wife and I first met she had a cat named Sam. Short for Samantha until "she" turned out to be a "he". Sam was part Siamese (all the bad parts), not very sociable, and most of his life he was called "fvcking cat" for the drama he like to cause.

Sam lived to the ripe old age of 18 and outlasted three of our dogs. We used to joke that he was too mean to die...

1. That is great news, go for it!
2. Yes, even ones that sit in bookshelves.

Don:
An old friend of mine had a Siamese that lived to 19. When they had to put him down, the vet had to inject the cat twice. My friend is still proud of that fact.

I haven't accepted anything yet... I think I'm going to try and leverage my current company to see what they counter offer with.
I know they will, because we just had 2 people quit in the last 3 weeks.

Well all this talk of interviews, you all may be interested to hear how mine went.

I went in and talked for about 45 minutes, they liked my confidence and enthusiasm as well as knowing a good bit of company history but I didn't really have enough over the phone/computer sales experience and they're looking for someone who knows how to sell people things over the phone. Pretty sure the fella before me got it, as he was a BMW dealership parts guy so he had the model knowledge and sales background. I ain't mad tho. It was pretty surreal to be in there interview for a job at the place where the continental championship race team works.
